I do the following which seems to help.
As soon as you get them home take them out of the plastic box and wash them. Pat them dry and bin any which have dark spots on. Keep them in a paper bag and poke holes in it. The things that make mushrooms slimy are lack of ventilation and fungi present on the mushrooms.

We had a mushroom plant the following the position you're able to bypass & purchase clean mushrooms. The best you can do is do not let them get or stay wet. Keep cool not cold and in a dark paper bag (they dhould have these at the store for your use) Will last maybe a week

clean them first and dry, then but in a plastic freezer bag or sandwich bag, put in a paper towel before sealing ,i have been able to use them for weeks. I do this same thing with all fruits and veggies,, works great
