Oh yeah. This happened to my ex husband, they with held a lot from his disability checks for back taxes. He owed them a ton. I think if you call them and get on some kind of payment plan that would be better. They charge a bunch of interest, and the money they withhold mostly goes to the interest, not what you actually owe, so that balance doesnt really change all that much and you end up paying and owing them forever.

According to the Law social security/disability CANNOT be held because of back taxes owed or not paying taxes from previous years as long as it is/was the only source of income

What do you think? Both systems are administrated by the same government. You owe money to one department, it would be optimistic to feel an entitlement to money from another department without settling up your debts, don't you think?

And if it is found you deliberately did not pay your taxes, you might not need any income anyway, there's another department that provides free room and board for people who deliberately break the law!

You probably need to get a good tax lawyer right away and figure a way to settle up what you owe.

Good luck!

I don't believe so, but to be sure, you can call 1-800-772-1213 and ask as a general question. You don't have to give your information if you don't want to.
