Definetly tell him. He's your best friend mate. If word gets out, things could get ugly, so tell him yourself. Bros first mate.
Oh unless it's just nothing but a friendly chat. But just mention it to him a bit so he knows.

If your having a conversation, it would be wrong to tell your best friend all about it... that would be a bit of a betrayal to the girl, don't you think?

tell him but dont incinuate anything "happened" u can keep that all to ur self until u 2 are for sure together then u ask his permission and he'll have no choice but to say yea
