No, its a form of cruelty. However, depending on the age this is a good way to teach kids to be wary so they don't grow up gullible

Well I come from a family that our sense of humor is at the heart. My kids have always been a part of that. My brother once told my daughter that raisins were flies with out their wings. When she got older she got her revenge and made him Oat meal raisin cookies. We still laugh about that now. But as far as the really important things in life we tell the truth. Children do need to trust their parents, but they need to learn that not every one is right all the time and they have to learn how to take a joke too.

I really think it depends on the kid's age. If they're just beginning to learn things and are trying to make sense of things, I personally would try to steer clear of feeding them too much false stuff just to keep them from too much confusion in a crutial time. (Except like Santa and stuff or whatever you want your kids to believe in) But then, later on, when they're starting to understand sarcasm, I think it's funny to test them like that.

Wow, I think my kids have a better sense of humor than the people that have answered you so far. I mess with my kids all the time. It's funny, and eventually they figure out I'm kidding and we all laugh about it.
I think humor is a must in a family and it teaches kids to not be so gullible. People need to lighten up.

Jeez people, lighten up! You have to teach your kids to have a sense of humor! Like no adult's ever done the same thing to YOU?

I live with 3 men......2 of them are my boys 6 and 8. So my household is filled with farting, burping, and all sorts of talk about puking and poop. So I have told my boys thus far that girls dont' poop. They pee, but don't poop. It's too gross, I told them. So far, they believe me........someday I'll tell them the truth, but right now, it's cute to hear them discuss it amongst themselves. And my husband?.....he of course KNOWS girls poop.......but I have explained to him that girls poop sparkles only. LOL.

No, it is not funny. It shows immaturity on the part of the adult who's doing it.

No, it's a really low thing to do. Children are very trusting, and you're abusing that trust.

No. They need to trust you. Lying to them isn't funny, it teaches them that you cannot be trusted.
