Changing a dogs food (or in this case the "foster dog" getting your dogs food) can upset their stomach and cause the runs. Try to feed them in seperate rooms or let one outside while the other eats

There are many things that could be causing the puppy to have the runs. If it is eating your dogs food it could definitely cause the diarriha. Is the diarriha bloody in anyway? If so the dog could be deathly ill and needs immediate vet attention. If it just has the regular runs, it is probably from the change in the food. Keep an eye on the dog and don't allow it to eat your dog's food. If it still has the runs after that make sure it sees a vet.
Good Luck

Most likely yes that is exactly what caused it. Change of diet will do that. Pull up all food. Do not feed the puppy for 12-18 hours. Give it plenty of water to drink. You need to give it's tummy a rest. Then cook it some chicken and rice. NO seasoning. Feed it small amounts every 4 hours. Keep it on this diet until stools are firm. Then slowly start it back on it's own food. This should be done over the course of a few days. If the diarrhea doesn't stop by tomorrow afternoon then you need to seek help from a vet. You can give it some kaopectate if you can get it down the dog. If it starts to vomit go immediately to the vet. Dehydration is what you don't want to happen. It can kill. Having said all this I still suggest you call this puppies vet. I was a pet sitter for 12 years. I've been a vet tech for 25. When caring for someone else's pet it's always best to err on the side of caution. A phone call is free. If they want you to bring it in then try to contact the owners so they can arrange payment. Hope this helps.

For whatever reason a 4 month old puppy with diarrhea has a high risk of dehydration. Food, may-be especially if the puppy food was a much better quality than your food or yours is too high in protein. Take this puppy to your vet and have a thorough examination. The owner will thank you.

Yes a quick change in diet can cause diarrhea. I would offer her a bland diet for a couple of days (chicken and rice) and slowly reintroduce "her" dog food to her. Feed ur dog and the dog u r petsitting for separate from now on so u don't have this issue with "sharing" food again. Things should get better in a couple of days. Good Luck

You bet. My master changed my food on me a while ago and boy, did I have diarriha bad. My system gets used to the nutrients and fillers in a certain kind of food and it isn't a good idea to switch "cold turkey". It has to be done gradually. You have to make sure your guest sticks with his own food.

A change in dog foods can cause diarehea. So yes, your dogs food is causing the other dog's poo problem.
make sure puppy has it's own food. You will keep the sheep dog's owners happy too. Be sure to put your dogs food away to keep the sheep dog from eating it or when you feed them be sure to keep them separate.
make sure she has lots of water to drink to combat the runs.

yes that sounds like the culprit, You need to watch the hydration in the puppy just like a baby it can plumet fast, try pedelyet or some kyro syrup in his water to keep his electrolites up adn if it does not clear up soon contact the vet, how ever if this has been going on for a few days contact them now.....

Yes, it could be causing the diarreha. Just giving him/her cooked white rice(small portions).
