A lot of people believe Canon makes great cameras. If you don't use a lot of manual settings, then you should look into a smaller camera that fits in your pocket like the canon digital elph series. Digital cameras are more useful when it's not a burden to carry it around.

For any compact/ultracompact camera, only buy Canon. For any digital SLR camera, only buy Canon.
For full sized digital cameras, Sony makes the best ones. For most people, the camera to have is the Sony DSC-H5 ultrazoom lens:

If you want a top of the line digital camera (about $800 after rebate), the Sony DSC-R1 is king:

If you opt for a digital SLR instead, understand that the kit lens that comes with these aren't very good. Buy the body only and get a good lens for it seperately (roughly $400). Your camera is only as good as the lens you have on it. The one I would recommend is this one:

High quality, low enough focal length for most situations where you want a relatively wide angle. High enough focal length to give you a good amount of zoom for close ups. A good, general purpose, walking around lens.
For those people who want true telephoto capability, Canon does make a VERY nice (and expensive) high zoom lens which still can still be used for standard shots, as well::

Even more than the superior electronics in Canon SLR products, are the nice lenses available. No way in hell I would get any of this stuff except for a high end SLR like the EOS 5D.

i have a Canon Powershot which rocks for everyday/anyday digital photographs. and i plan to open a photography business someday, so then I will buy a high-end Nikon with all the additional add-ons available, which will kick every other camera's izz-***!

"I’ve seen human beings importing photos of them at Mac Donalds and buying bread on the shop, what’s so specific approximately that, why could you even waste it sluggish taking a image of it? " rather? that's humorous. possibly they're in simple terms happy to take photos of issues.
