be careful... You may need to talk to an attorney in the state you are in......this may be a case of fraud on both accounts. See if you can get some help from a law resource center in your area

You know, I don't even think the $900 bill matters. If she's going into a nursing home, she won't need the furniture. What does your family plan to do with it? Because you are moving into an apartment, it seems only logical that the furniture go to you.

Are you using her furniture out of spite or have you all talked about it kindly before her stroke? Spite, wrong. If it would have been ok to her for you to use it, then I don't see that as wrong. Her belongings also depends on her wishes that may be written already.

As long as it is ok with other members of the family. Considering the situation I think they would be understanding. Just be careful though, if she improves and comes back home, she will want her things back. My mom sold some stuff of her father's (stuff she couldn't store any longer) while he was gravely ill in the hospital and then he ended up getting better and was pretty upset about it.

Of course you are wrong, how does stealing (taking it without her permision) your grandmothers furniture justify her running up a cc bill? You should have a guilty concious just for rationalizing that. Don't do it.

Go for it, you don't owe any respect or consideration to someone who treats you like that.
