and he howled. My mother made an app. for the cat, but i could not wait till the 9th to find out what was wrong with him. I found out that he has crystals in his blatter, I took him to the Animal Emerceny Hospital, they wanted to alot of stuff on him, but it would cost over $17,000, so my mother said to empty his bladder. We took him to another hospital to spend the night there. We picked him up today, his potassium level is high which can kill him.His kidney is having a hard time with the potassium. Right now they are putting insulin in his body. If that does not work, we may have to put him asleep. COCO is a 2 1/2 years old full bred Siamese male named Coco. How can I pay my mother for all of this? How can I deal with putting my 2 1/2 year old kitten to sleep? I do not think that I can deal with putting COCO to sleep.I do not know what to do.I have to find a way to pay my mother. But I do not have any money.I will not get my SSI for a while, so that means that I can't pay her. Help!!!!

You are dealing with a lot of stress right now. You MUST relax a little and take one issue at a time.
First you have to be concerned about Coco. I hope they are able to treat him and that he will pull out of this. So that's enough stress till you know the outcome.
If the time comes (and maybe it will not) that the vet tells you there is nothing else you can do to save your darling you will face it with courage and love. It is truly the "beautiful death" that the Greek word means.Would that all the humans I know who died could have such a peaceful death!
You will cry, it will break your heart for sure, and if it is best for Coco you will find the strength to accept it. I have had to do it with one beloved cat and will have to face it fairly soon with another who has an untreatable cancer.
Mothers are the most forgiving of "loan sharks". Remember what you put out into the world will come back to you. You have put money out with love and caring. The financial issue will be resolved.

Honey, I am so sorry for you and Coco! I'm afraid that this isn't good news though. My kitty, KC just went through just about the same thing but she was 17 and her mind failed first. After having her for so long, I didn't want to say goodbye either, but sometimes you have to remember that it is because we love them that we have to do these things that hurt us so badly. Coco is young but the odds are that even if you spent all that money on the medical care, she wouldn't be living a good, happy long life anyway. There would be lots of trips the the vet, medicines, and a very sick Coco. And that would have to go on for a long time if not for the rest of her life, and that's no way for a kitty to live. I'm sure when you think of it that way, you will know in your heart that putting Coco to sleep is the kindest thing you can do for her. She is suffering and as much as you obviously love her, you don't want her to suffer any more. I really don't think you should think about the money here, it really is time to let Coco go. Ask your vet what you can do to keep her the most comfortable for now so you can spend maybe the weekend with her so you can say goodbye but unfortunately, this is something we all have to face with having pets. Just remember all the good times the 2 of you had together and know you are doing what is right for Coco and if she could tell you so, I'm sure she would say Thank you, I love you too!

This problem is a common one among male cats and no way does it cost $17,000, either you are lying or you vet it lying. Usually getting the bladder emptid and putting the cat on some meds and a special diet does the trick. Not sure what the heck these vets are telling you, but something sounds extremely fishy here.

the same exact thing happened to my cat a week before he was going to be 3. one thing you need to know is that in young male cats it is very common to develope a urinary tract infection which causes crystlization in the blatter. i also had to make that very hard decission on weather or not to pay that kind of money for my pet or to put him down. not only was it my decission to make but it was also the first day i started a new job. i was a reck! to stop the suffering and all the pain, i felt it was the best choice to put him down. yes you may love your kitty COCO and no other pet will replace him, but do you really want him to suffer? treating him may help but it will also put you in debt like you found out. and theres no guarentee that it wont happen again. just remember...whatever decission you make...it wont be the wrong one. he knows that you love him and he will always love you. like my dad said to me...would you rather have him suffer or would you rather have him running through the grassy fields chasing butterflys under the blue sky and sunshine and being a happy kitty in heaven? good luck with your dicission and god bless your kitty...i hope this will help .......in memory of Cudd's....10-06-2004

First let me just say I am sorry you are going through this... Secondly I am not sure if you can pay her.... and third is ther any promise that putting your wonderful kitty through 17,000 worth of treatment will even work....he may go through all that suffering all to the same end... If for some awful reason you do have to put him to sleep take confort in knowing you did the best you could by him and that he loves you anyway....and always will and would even if He knew the tough decision you had to make. you have had two and a half wonderful years together and he may make it yet... Cats do have nine lives.....

It doesn't appear that Coco is going to make it. When they have kidney failure, they usually "pass on".
As for paying your mom, you will figure something out.
Another option as to what might be wrong, Feline Leukemia. We have had cats with similar symptoms. It kind of sounds the same.
Have your vet test for Feline Leukemia. There is no cure for this unfortunately. IF Coco does have it. All you can do is just make the cat as comfortable as possible. Until the end. I hope this has helped .I am sooo sorry about Coco. I too am a Cat Lover!!
