Courvoisier VSOP the cognac of Napolean. As said before its big on taste, and Napolean liked things big to make up for his lack in that area. But really, despite what "the experts" say, it is your tastes in the end that will win. Courvoisier has held the larger part of popularity for its quality and price, and unless you think that you can be able to tell finite taste factors apart, any of the above mentioned will suffice. Go with which ever bottle looks cool to you and you may be just as happy.

Cognac is a lot like wine in that one person's taste may prefer different styles. In fact, as you may know, cognac is made from grapes which are first fermented and then distilled into brandy. Brandy was once called brandy wine, for that reason.
All cognac is brandy but cognac only comes from a small area in France by the same name. It's important that you try different Cognacs to find one you really appreciate. When it comes to blending, you can find a lot of variables by the Cognac house that is usually looking for a certain style.
For example, someone suggested the Hennesy VSOP, which is a very fine cognac; it is spicy and focused, but lacking in a full round flavor which I prefer. The Courvoisier VSOP is in your price range and it is a very full and big flavored cognac, although many experts might say it was a bit flabby around the edges. One that fits in between these two is the Rémy Martin VSOP. The finish on this cognac is incredible and the flavors in the mouth are full and complex. My particular preference is Hine, which is just slightly over the 50 mark, but is worth every penny, IMHO. I have included a site below just for info and price comparisons.
By the way VSOP stands for Very Superior Old and Pale. It may sound technical but it doesn't really mean much, except by convention.
Good luck!
