Its their past not yours, if you met them after the fact then it shouldn't be an issue. I know of all people that someone elses past can be devastating, but you wouldn't know about it unless they trusted you and needed you. So quit focusing on what their past is and start being the support they need.

Difficult question to answer from this perspective but I will try. If this issue is truly a past issue then close that chapter and look a head not back. I do not know either of you I have no idea what these past issues are but anything can be over come if both are willing participants. Talk to your partner about your feeling, sharing this with him. I really can't say more I am not a councilor. The past is gone the future is ahead just live in today the rest will take care of itself

If the past was before you.. Then you it shouldn't bother you.. If it does then it doesn't make sense why you would still be around? btw.. It doesn't matter what you feel for the person as in love/like/lust.. Its a Yes or a No question.. There is no in betweens..

If the past included you.. Then it wasn't the past. The question now should be.. Why am I dumb enough to continue to put myself through torture?

Moving on is hard, I usually try to better myself if I have something like that constantly on my mind and causing me emotional troubles. I usually will work out , enroll at a gym, take classes ( example spanish or computer or dance classes ) I also start learning new recipes, or anything to keep my self positive and busy. Helps me anyway. Good Luck

Not sure that its good to actually leave it in the dust.

This thing that you are trying to forget is actually a part of someone that you are wanting to move forward with. Present behavior has to be the dominant, but past helps to predict the future. box it up, but dont throw it out.

Time heals and time helps you adjust...... The more time that goes by, the more history you have with each other, and then the past is farther and farther away.... and the just a vague memory....
