I have been curious about that since reading The Davinci Code. It makes sense. How do we really know if the books of the bible are accurate history or the history Constantine wanted everyone to believe?

OK first of all I see that you know nothing about the council of Nicea and you are basically quoting the Davici Code.
So first a bit about Constantine and how he became a Christian.
He was a Roman General fighting in 312 AD when he became a Christian. He said that he saw a cross shining in the clouds the night be fore a critical battle. Under the cross where the 2 words Hoc Vinci, "by this conquer". He also said that Jesus came to him in a dream and told him to put the cross on his flags. He did and the next day they one the battle. He became a Christian and banned all pagan worship and became a friend to the bishops.
At the Council of Nicea non of what you just listed was even on the agenda. In fact who Jesus was and what the Bible had in it had already been decided. In the writing of the earliest church fathers (100-250 AD) you can find a listing of every book in the NT that we now have today.

The First Council of Nicaea, convoked by the Roman Emperor Constantine I in 325, was the first ecumenical[1] conference of bishops of the Christian Church.
The purpose of the council (also called a synod) was to resolve disagreements in the Church of Alexandria over the nature of Jesus in relationship to the Father; in particular, whether Jesus was of the same or of similar substance as God the Father. St. Alexander of Alexandria took the first position; the popular presbyter Arius, from whom the term Arian controversy comes, took the second. The council decided against the Arians overwhelmingly (of the estimated 250-318 attendees, all but 2 voted against the Arians). Another result of the council was an agreement on the date of the Christian Passover, now called Easter, the most important feast of the Church's life. The council decided in favour of celebrating Passover on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox, independently of the Bible's Hebrew Calendar (see also Quartodecimanism), and authorized the Bishop of Alexandria (presumably using the Alexandrian calendar) to announce annually the exact date to his fellow bishops.
The Council of Nicea had nothing to do with whether Jesus was divine, just the nature of that divinity. Jesus cannot honestly be placed with Muhammad, Moses, Buddha or Lao Tzu, He claimed to be God and proved it, the others never did.

Sweetie-you are confused. There is so much recorded history prior to Constantine that talks about God and Jesus. The entire Bible (66 books) was finished in 95 A.D. That was 200 years before Constantine was born. Someone has lied to you and you have believed it. What about all the writings of the early church fathers before Nicea?
Your history lesson is all wrong.

I completely agree with the sentiment behind your question, and I agree with your evaluation that most religions take great teachers and deify them, often losing their message in the process.
However, I completely disagree with your evaluation of the council of Nicea. It was probably the day that Christianity started going downhill, but they were ratifying what the general population of Christians already believed. It just didn't go down like you portray it. I studied Christian history in college and grad school for about seven years. They made mistakes in Nicea, and a political leader never should have been involved, but your evaluation is still way off.

First and foremost you have free will.
You did not receive this from any Council or book or man for that matter. So where did you receive this at once awesome and also burdonsome gift of free will.
The animals and the birds on the earth surely do not have this free will. They do the same things over and over again while on this earth. They make no decisions, laws or rules to live by.
So , to believe in God would mean that you either accept him or reject him (free will) there is no fence riding, accepting what you like and rejecting what you do not like. You must according to your own creator accept him or reject him in his entirity.
You are fence riding. Scripture states this as worse than rejection and states that you will be vomited out of Gods kingdom.
Pretty strong wording is used here, so tread softly on this ground.
If you accept God in his entirity, than I see no reason that you shouldnt read the "lost books" of the bible as they are called. I have some of them and some directly contradict the rest of the scriptures, so to accept the one, would me i would have to reject all the others. I come down on the side of accepting the ones that coorelate and confirm the others. After all these writers of the scriptures did not in many cases know each other or live during the same time periods. They did not have access to each others writings and so for them to confirm each others writings is proof enough for me that these are the true scriptures.
While we are one with GOd, we are only one with him if we accept him in his entirity. You cannot be one with GOD if you have not or will not do this. To be one with God, how would you know how to go about obtaining this if you refused to read his word and learn what we must learn.
Jesus was not a prophet. He was and is the only begotten son of God. He was sinless and perfect. No one else can make that claim. for as soon as they made the claim they would have lied and thus have sinned. Prophets were men and women just like us, people God used to send messages to others about what he wanted and what he would do. Prophets are not sinless, they have the same sin nature that we do. Most prophets were meek humble people who were amazed that God would even know they existed, let alone use them for great and glorifying works of God.
Buddha, Muhammad and Lao Tzu were not prophets of God. They may have thought themselves prophets of self, themselves, but God never wrote of them, so prophets of their creator they were not.
Moses was a prophet of God. He failed many times, even when God had made specific promices to him, he failed to have patience and wait for Gods timing, yet God counted him as rightous, not sinless. It was all about his heart for God, not his shortcomings before God.
God wants that all should come to know him, yet he gave us free will to decide if we will do that. If we reject him, he has no choice but to reject us. The rules have been set into place. You choose if you will play by them or get kicked out of the stadium.
I wish you the best in your study of your own creation and the decision that you must make regarding that creation.

If you read the gospels (30-90 a.d.) Jesus did claim to be EQUAL to GOD> "I and the father are ONE"..."who ever has seen me has seen the father"....the jews tried to stone Jesus for blaspheming by saying that he was the "son of" god, which in those days meant "to be equal" or "a part of". Nicea just interpreted the scriptures w/ over 300 bishops so they could all agree on ONE faith> as for when Jesus said, "the father is greater than I"....remember that Jesus was sinless, therefore HUMBLE> even though jesus is god, he humbled himself as a human servant for OUR sake/salvation!!1

The council of Nicea was only ONE council, and their focus was on holidays, not to edit the Bible. The Bible was put together through MANY councils, not just the one in Nicea. I have researched it, and MANY of the other councils myself.

I like your message a lot, and there is so much truth in what you wrote. The corrupt early Christian church has done more damage and ruined more lives than any other movement or ideology on earth. Ironic, isn't it?
