All we do is express our opinions just like everyone else, and if you're not ok with that then you're contradicting yourself.

They can't handle the truth, so they insult it. I'm not saying everyone does, but some people do.

I'd say there are several reasons, one being the condescending attitude (which may not be expressly intended to be cond. but is) expressed in "Yeppers" posting here.

It doesn't help that the "rulers" of our country simultaneously push "freedom" and "Christianity" as though you could base a government on a religion without invading upon people's beliefs. You are free to believe and worship as you want as long as you obey the Christian rules.

That all said, the way you have expressed yourself here is excellent, coherent and I respect your perspective. I think many who choose to bash Christians and others end up hypocritical.

I have no need to bash Christians or any others outside of the proponents of my two complaints above. (And plenty of non-Christians are condescending too.)

In response to some of the other postings here, and honestly no offense intended, but any Christian in America who feels "persecuted" needs to do a wee bit more traveling the world or try being a non-Christian in America or a non-white in America, or a homosexual in America. (And if you are a member of one of the aforementioned populations and Christian and you feel you are more persecuted for being a Christian then I respect your opinion, but I am very surprised.)

It's not christians in general that us non-spiritual types have a problem with. Personally, I think that christianity as a religion is at least on par with the rest of organized religion. Most faithful christians have nothing but good intentions.
What I (and most other atheists) have a problem with is being ridiculed or called names, etc. because of our lack of belief, or simply told that we are going to burn for all eternity. I think some of the chritians who post in this forum should stop and ask themselves "What would Jesus do?" before they put their inane rantings into words.
On the other hand, a lot of us atheists can be just as offensive and belittling. I guess all I can say is try to ignore the stupid ones, and I'll do the same.

Christians are not just expressing their opinions, they are passing laws that are violating the religious freedoms of all non Christians. If they were not abusing their majority in politics and thus intruding in peoples lives there would not be near as much christian bashing going on.

So spread the "good news" all you want, but stay out of politics because the Christians are corrupting the great country of America.

Actually, "everyone" does not bash Christians. Specifically, Christians, who comprise 80% of Americans, do not bash Christians.

Cause when you're talking about something as important as heaven or hell, you've gotta make sure that what you're saying makes sense. You can always express your opinion, but if it makes no sense....why would you believe it? That's why people bash christians.

You are generalizing here and not everyone bashes Christians. Some do, but not everyone.

I love you. Go ahead and express your opinion. As for me and my son, we're with the Flying Spaghetti Monster. My wife, a roman catholic, o well.

Hi posture,

one thing to keep in mind is that not every person who calls themselves a Christian- shares God's message with the love that Christ asks us to share His message with.

It does no good to wonder why? We can only encourage people to not just share Christ in word, but also in action and attitude.

i always tell my Sunday school kids that the only person they have control of is themselves.

The Scriptures tell us in James: To be slow to anger, quick to listen, because the wrath of men does not produce the righteousness of God. (Be careful...)

Proverbs also tells us not to take everything people say to heart because we too have cursed others before. In other words don't get so easily upset by everything people say and understand that some people are just trying to get under your skin.

Share lovingly with the words and wisdom of Christ.

Hope that helps,

Nickster

Every1 has different reasons, as per my case:
I am trying to write a new website about religion so i need different answers. I have to agrovate Christians sometimes so i can get different responce. ( not that i really trying to piss them off)
TO know about christianity i have to take every angle to see what that is.

The only thing I'm not OK with is people telling me I'm going to "burn in an eternal lake of fire" because I don't feel exactly the same way they do.
