I can't say that I go monthly, but I do go fairly often. Mostly I purchase VeggieTales DVDs for my daughter or music CDs. I go there as opposed to Wal-Mart or Target because they have a larger selection of what I'm looking for. I can go into most major chains and find VeggieTales DVDs, but that's about as far as it goes. Most of them don't carry the toys and books and they certainly don't carry much of a variety of the DVDs. The have the latest ones to have come out and that's it. The Christian bookstore has classic VeggieTales, too. You also get better customer service.

Hi coming of age,
i visit stores quite often to purchase curriculum and personal study items for my home library.
There are some decent books at: Wal-mart, Target and Costco but you have be discernful. Non-Christian bookstores in general do not differentiate between Christian (for example at Barnes and Nobles) i found a whole bunch of mormon and Jehovah Witness book under Christian authors. Plus your selection is a lot more limited.
i suggest going to Christian Book Distributors online- they have great prices and they send you a monthly catalog. The cost if $5 for a membership and they always have special member sales. You do have to pay for shipping.
The Christian stores are usually safer- although some do sell Catholic books and word-faith teachers (ie: Benny Hinn, etc.) so you'll have to be discernful. A lot of their employees are well read so usually you can get a good book reccomendation as well.
Hope that helps... oh if you live anywhere near Biola/Talbot there's a great store called In Christ Books.
Feel free to email me with any questions about books, etc, nicksterlee@yahoo.com

Christian Based stores, I feel, are more geared to cater to the Christian and is there to help guide the individual believer, but stores like Target & Wal-Mart are in it for the cash. Neither store calls Christian Music Christian, but instead refers to it as "inspirational", and only when they realized that there is a real market, they jumped on the band wagon.
If they thought that they couldn't make money off Christians, they would never sell anything Christian.

I go to the Christian book store to purchase DVD's that have come out because we need to support people who make good Christian quality movies. I find that books and music are marked up so high that I usually opt to find the more reasonably priced situation at Books A Million. Plus with my discount card I save even more. I do like to buy whatnots from the Christian Bookstore because they have loads of little things that you can give to people that make cause them to stop and think each time they see the item you gave them.
