well a while ago i decided to dye my hair very dark, almost black. my natural color is like a dark blonde. i ended up not wanting this hair color anymore and want to get rid of it. yet, i kno that if i go out and get a box of dark blonde it will look different. my friend said i should peroxcide my hair and then dye it dark blonde. should i peroxcide my hair? and HOW do i do it ?? and can i buy just any norman peroxcide ??? helpp !!

Sweetie, if you try to do either of these things, with peroxide OR lightener, you will have BIG mess on your hands.

I deal with this situation all the time in the salon. Once you take light hair to a shade that's that dark it is extremely difficult to get the color out without ruining the hair. If you try to bleach it you will get a muddy, spotty result that will be very difficult to cover, especially with a light color. If you use regular peroxide (or just developer) it would take days to get any result at all.

My recommendation is to consult a professional. I often highlight in this situation and "weed out" the dark. It is, however, a multi-step process that takes several months and can be costly, depending on where you go.

Damn....I never thought I'd see 'peroxide' used as a verb. Gotta put in a called to Oxford now.

don't bleach, just lighten. Use stuff called lightener or pre-lightener, available in most chemists, then dye dark blonde after that.
