I am a former Pagan, I studied and practiced paganism for several years on my spiritual journey. I hold it in high regard to this day and probably always will.
I think that the most important thing for me was the sense of personal power. Not the idea that I could move the constellations or control the elements, but the feeling that I could take control of my life, that I was worth all the good things I wanted for myself, even if I never got them. Through practicing paganism, I was able to stand on my own, learn independence, inner strength, humility and a great deal of respect for others.

Respect for all life and respect for differences. No two pagans or wiccans believe the exact same thing so we respect the others views. It's very free, basically do what works for you. BUT we all abide by the Rede be it pagan or wiccan or what have you. "...and it harm none, do what ye will."

I'm neo-pagan but not Wiccan. I hope I can answer too.
My religion is offertory in nature. That is important to me. I like a religion that has a strong emphasis on giving and trying to please my deities.
