I am trying to colorwash with yellow paint. All the different yellows I try as combinations seem to just blend together. I am using Glidden vanilla creme (soft yellow) as a base currently and have tried brighter yellows and tans with no luck.

try a gold color.If you go to HGTV.com and click on the show"Room By Room" they have a little video clip that will walk you thru the technique

Try a brownish gold. I did the same thing in my dining room. I started with "Newborn" and added "French Vanilla".
