I believe that rye bread goes bad alot faster than regular white/wheat bread...They use a cheap wrapper, cause they don't want to waste their profit on the plastic...good question

Rye bread are not the most often consumed type of bread. Also I would think that rye feels and tastes like it's been on the shelf as long as an MRE ration. So, maybe the wrapping is just as old.

That is a really funny question. Love it!
Sorry, don't have an answer or opinion--I don't like the caraway seeds in Rye bread.

maybe its an ingredient in rye bread that clashes with the wrapper making it weaker.

What kind of rye bread do you get?
I have one that is hermetically sealed and I need a blow torch to get them out.

You have to get your rye from Schnitzer's. It's the only way. If you have to mug an old lady for it, so be it.
