Time to neuter him! Those pee pads have never worked for my dog anyways.

Was he trained to the pee pad? I have a 6 month old male Maltese. He was trained from two weeks old to use the pee pads. He isn't neutered yet. My Vet likes to do the tiny dogs when they are seven months old. He says they totally formed by that age.
But my pup doesn't lift his leg yet unless he is outside and marking his territory. He has not done it in the house.
I decided to keep mine on the pee pads because of the weather changes here. I didn't think a little guy like him would go out in rain, sleet and snow to go potty. Our weather can be bad here. It can rain or snow for days.
I have never crated him. I have never had a reason. He goes to one pee pad and that's it........
I just wonder what has changed for him that he won't use the pee pad? I always think there has to be a concrete reason for a drastic change in animals or people.

yea...it's much harder to train a dog to pee indoors rather than outdoors, the best advice I can give you is, if you're not doing this already, to not change the pee pad every time he goes potty, that way he will find his scent again and remember where he went the last time. As long as he keeps finding his scent in the carpet he will continue to go there. Also, make sure you reward him like crazy when he goes on the pad. Also this is the hardest part but if you do it for a week you shouldn't have any more problems. Keep your dog in his kennel/crate at all times and let him out only to go potty, eat and drink, and then back to the cage. This gets him into the routine because a dog (usually) will not go potty in his cage. I feel like I'm writing a book so if you have any more questions send a message!

Take him for a walk. Why is an 8 month old still using a pee pad?

It's definitely time to get him neutered. Hopefully, that will work. I have one male, rescued dog who will mark on anything. He wears a belly band in the house (It covers his penis with a sanitary pad)
Good Luck.

he's a male dog. Males dogs hike their legs. He's also a dog and therefore, maybe you'd have better luck teaching him to potty outside.
