Personally, I think that book is amazing. I had a hard time telling myself that it was a fictional story because it's so believable. Well, it is true that every living thing has energy, and that energy can be manipulated by circumstance. So can you see something's energy, in terms of an aura? Possibly. I've seen Kirlean (sp?) photography, so I know it can be measured and captured on film.
Everyone should try this little experiment:
Get a friend to extend one arm to their side at shoulder's height. Tell them to hold their arm there as firmly as they can. Now test their strength by placing your index and middle fingers on their wrist and push down. Tell them to resist you. Now you know the baseline from which to measure. While they continue to hold out their arm, tell them to close their eyes and think of a situation they were in in which they were completely and totally ashamed and embarrassed. A situation where they felt awful and maybe even angry at themselves. Now tell them to concentrate on that experience and try to feel those emotions again. Test their strength while they try to resist. What happens? Now repeat the process having them think of a situation in which they were completely happy, proud of themselves, and in the centre of (good) attention. Test their strength again to see the difference.
This is called applied kinesiology. It measures the effects of stress and emotions on our energy. Interesting stuff...
Tabitha.

I haven't read that book, but I think the idea of everyone and everything having an "energy" is pretty common, people just call it different things: Aura, spirits, souls, the potential to do work (scientific definition). Somehow I think everybody is really talking about the same thing.

I believe we are all energy (a soul in a human body) & as such remain energy after death...so we never truly die.
I've read "The Celestine Prophecy"...but found the GUIDEBOOK much more interesting.

I have read The Celestine Prophecies. I do not buy into what the book was saying. To be honest, I thought it was one of the worst books I ever read.

I have not read the Celestine Prophecies, so cannot comment on that, but the basic idea is nonsense.
