If your kids are anything like mine, you will need to bring lots of snacks! Also bring smaller items from home (stuffed animals, smaller toys) so that they feel they have something to relate to. If there are places with sights along the way, stop and have the kids take a look (take pictures with them while you are there as well).
I'm not sure how far (hours to ride) or how long you will stay gone. If you will be staying in a hotel, I would bring a blanket for the kids from home as well.
Play some songs or cd's they like in the car as well.
I think that's it! The snacks and movies will keep them occupied the most. You can have them practice counting or saying the alphabet (or whatever they can do) or encourage them to practice writing etc.!!

Even though I don't currently have kids, I heard a really good idea for taking trips with kids the other day. The suggestion was to bring something new to the kid, like a new coloring book or toy. That way you have the entertaining factor of the item in addition to the newness that tends to wear out. Good luck!

i imagine at that age day journeys are many times suited for both mothers and fathers and little ones. a visit to the zoo is continuously relaxing. the little ones can see lots and some have splash pads and little ones play elements. Picnics are relaxing. an afternoon on the sea coast will be relaxing , take a portable playpen to keep the newborn contained and secure.some have those covers or get a huge umbrella to provide some color. per chance you're able to take your mom-in-regulation up on her provide and chop up up the holiday time.let the little ones stay at grandma's for some days so that you and your hubby get a mini holiday, and spend something else of the holiday as a kinfolk. the finest of both worlds.I agree that places like Disneyland are more effective acceptable suited at a time at the same time as both little ones are slightly older. keep in recommendations the point of a holiday is to get relax and sense refreshed (or to a minimum of get a spoil from the on a daily basis undemanding)

I don't know where you are located but if your close to the Canadian border I would suggest that you vacation here. There is much to do and see here. And lots to do that is either free or inexpensive for young couples. Have a nice relaxing vacation.

little kids love to see stuff down at thier level- petting zoo, nature stuff, they really love it, plus you get to take ton's of cute pictures - you will always love that too-
picnics, games- doesn't have to be expensive- little ones don't appreciate high cost stuff much- so save the money-
camping- may be a little challenging at that age- keep an eye on 'em
fly a kite, play beach ball, sand castles, take more pictures
lol
best to you

A Muzzle, Spatula and a good backhand swing.
Also, random threats of desertion in the "middle of nowhere".
Get 'em good and scared while they're young. They won't easily forget.
