When you're trying to train them, take them outside a few times a day. The first few times, bring some of the soiled paper outside and leave it near a tree to encourage them to pee there. If they pee outside, praise them. I mean really get into it, get excited, show the dogs how good they've been. Dogs love to please, and when they see the praise they get for going outside, they'll start waiting to do it out there. It'll take a little time, but it should work. It's certainly not too late.

It's all about behaviour modification. Dogs will usually pick out a spot they like to go and stick with it if left to there own. Potty training just nudges that natural inclenation to be a spot YOU prefer. It's all about the nose for dogs. That is how they view the world. Once they have built up their scent in an area, it wil be harder to break them of it. If you already have them going on something portable, like paper, You can slowly, and repetively move it outside for them to go on and reward the correct behaviour until it becomes routine for them. You will have to throughly descent any areas in the house they have gone.

The Wee Pads work wonderfully. It takes little to no effort at all. I have 4 new pups and I bought those wee pads not really expecting to train them because they are so young but I put the pups inside a box on a pillow and put the wee pad next to the pillow. They actually climbed off of the pillow and onto the wee pad to "go potty". Once they begin using the pads you're supposed to move the wee pad outside and allow your dog to sniff it while it's out there. my pups are only 6 weeks and the process is going great!

Good luck, you waited way too long. I know it sounds cruel but many trainers would tell you a shock collar would help at this point. I would try just limiting their roaming. Keep them in the same room as you and be attentive to their behavior. You will be able to tell when they are about to go to the bathroom. Then take them to the door and scratch their paw on it and let them outside. Reward them when they do their business. My rottie was trained this way by the time he was 9 weeks old. Four years later he still very politely goes to the door and knocks to go outside. In addition, not to be rude, but please don't have children if you have this much trouble disciplining and training dogs.

Its never to late to train a dog to go outside...when you catch him in the act clap your hands, bounce a ball,or throw keys on the ground...anything to get his attention. then take him out so he can finish in an area you want them to go (so you have a small area to pick up crap instead of the whole yard). The trick is,to stay out there with them and praise after they finish, and bring them back in right away so they no its not time to play. It will take time, but soon they will stand at the door to be let out...Good Luck

no its not too late, and i'd say its never too late with the right training
Take them out regularly 3 times a day even if they don't have to go out.
You have to also punish them when they go inside and you have to reward them or compliment them ("Good Boy!") when they are going outside.
You don't have to bee too harsh with punishment, but you have to let them know what they did wrong. Take them to the crime scene and make them look at it, then say "BAD! and give them a little smack on the butt just enough to let them know they did something wrong.
Repeat this and eventually they will learn.
I have included a link to a guide that you should also read (see source)

Dogs are never too old to learn new tricks (behavior). All you need to do is reward the good behavior and punish the bad. Soon they will get it. Catch them in the act of doing something good, like relieving themselves outside, when you do, praise and reward. When they go the house, you need to reprimand and yell at your dog(s), they hate that. You need to be firm and consistent. The pain you go through will be worth the effort. Good Luck.

It's never too late to train but you have to be very strict with discipline. It sounds harsh......but their dogs. Not people. Reinforce urination/defaction in the house with severe discipline. i'm not saying beat your dog. But you have to make it as unpleasant as possible for them when caught doing something wrong. I have a Husky/Shepard cross. Very well mannered/trained. But literally last night my girlfriend lef the garbage bag on the back porch (where the dog likes to sleep as it's cooler) instead of outside. She got into the garbage and woke us up three times with chewing sounds, hyper behaviour, etc. As a result she was pummeled into an inch of her life with a padlock in a sock. She won't be going into the garbage anytime soon.

I'm not sure about this but it might work.put your dogs outside when you wake up put you dogs outside with food water and a dog bed check on them every hour.refill their water if you have to bring them inside at night.it might teach them to go outside or it could reduce the poop inside because if they do go inside at nigh it won't be as much as it would be if they were in all day
