1. Soak your hand in ice water until you can't stand it.
2. Smear butter, olive oil, mineral oil or any other slippery substance on your finger, trying to get as much as you can under the ring.
3.. Push the ring up towards the opposite side of your knuckle.
4. Scream out something such as, "come on you darn ring!" as you wince in pain.
If it doesn't come off after that... snip snip!

Take a string, or thick dental floss:
Starting from the "hand side"
Thread string under the ring (along the length of the finger)
Pull the thread down several inches (at least 3)
Take the same end and thread it under the ring again, down the "hand side"
This makes a "loop" around the ring.
Hold your arm above your head for about 5-10 minutes, this will help get the swelling down.
Use the string with the loop around the ring kind of like a pulling to pull the ring up the string off your finger.
You still might want a little oil on your finger.
This whole thing might be easier with a friend.
Good luck.

1. Soak your hand in ice-cold water if it is swollen. Wait 5 to 10 minutes for the swelling to recede.
2. Apply lubricant around the ring and up the length of your finger. Hand lotion, soap, dishwashing liquid or olive oil will do the trick.
3. Twist the ring as you slowly work it up and over the knuckle. You may need to apply some force to get it over the first knuckle. Make sure to twist, not tug.
4. If the ring still won't budge, visit a doctor to have it removed.
Overall Warnings:
If you're experiencing swelling from an injury, it is important to remove any rings before the swelling worsens, because the rings might cut off the finger's blood supply.

You had better get to a hospital soon. If you are having pain & its swollen? Not good. If your finger is turning colour don't wait. I had the same problem. And i did not want to have it cut. But the hospital told me it's either the ring or my finger. This only if you've tried everything from baby oil to vasiline.

put your hand in ice water for as long as you can stand then hold your hand with your fingers pointing up use windex on your finger and it should slip off--or anything to help lube it up soap, lotion oil etc--but at the jewelry store they use windex to help get it off--also make sure that you drink a ton of water--sometimes you are retaining water and that makes it hard to get a ring off

Soak your hand in ice water for a few minutes and then apply cream or butter around the ring and twist in an upwards motion.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Try running cold water over your finger or soak it in a bowl of ice water - then pour cooking oil or liquid detergent over it and try to get it off. If that doesn't work, repeat the process. Hopefully that will work for you.
