There was a man very poor and starving and so he prayed, "O Lord, please give me food, give me shelter". And with God's blessing he got a temporory job. Thus he was able to earn and started getting regular foods, clothes etc. So this man started praying again, "O God, thank you for everything, but I need someone to take care of me and give me company". With God's blessing a beautiful girl came into his life and he was happy for sometime. But soon he prayed to God, "O Lord you are Great. Thank you for everything. But I need lot of money to take care of me and my wife. O Lord please give me a good and bigger house too, as now my family is bigger". So it went on and on and on. He kept on asking God for more and more. Sorry to make you all read more details. But I thought that it might help you to answer more correctly.

Those without hope of any kind I believe are ( in a sense) poor. I hear people describe themselves as "poor" when they are not, and it really bugs me. Even the poor in the US are so much better off than many in third world countries. We are really spoiled, but many of us don't know it and either can't or don't appreciate what we have. I appreciate everything that I have been given, from hot running water to a roof over my head to a car I can drive. An attitude of gratitude is so important to maintain!

Most people want to be rich to stave off their fears. What if there's an accident, an illness, an unexpected cost? What if we can't show that we are worthy of someone else's love and respect? What if we can't return a favor?

The people who are poor are the ones who have had their fears realized and are still at risk of loosing more. The poor are those who must deny their desires while others have more than they want or need.

It depends on if you live for God or for money. Money is not everything. If you are full of faith and right with the lord, then in my opinion, you are richer that rich. When you put your life in gods hand 100%, then you will be blessed in all things.

What you describe is greed, a feeling all of us have from time to time. The people who are the most poor are those with the strongest feelings of greed: no matter how much they own it'll never be enough

I feel I'm in the category of the "working poor". I get my bills paid and that's about it. I'm low income.

Can't get help b/c I make just a few $$$ more than guidelines allow.

But, I'd RATHER work and be in this position than be on welfare, like so many others and just sit on their *** and get paid way more than I do!

Let me tell you about my ordeal.
I was born in a wealthy family; had some property here and there, jewlery,..... THEY let me know, about 10 years ago, that I was unbelievably fortunate enough to have been picked to compete in one of these "survival contests." After 10 years, I have aged to about an 80 year old man, all I have is a computer and a t.v. set, and a rug ! And I still spend on things they tell me !
Pittifull, hah!
