I'm Pagan.

I already worship other Gods.

And I was Catholic first, so, I did worship him BEFORE the others...

No, the combination of the original lanuguage and King James' English are a bit misleading. The thought of the manuscript evidence is to place the worship of God above all else.

The idea in the orignial language understood that since 'gods' were more powerful than all other things and beings that of course one would worship 'god' before one did anything else.Since the Bible reveals the one, true God worship of Him is above all else.

Hey Bobby,

the commandment to not have any other gods before God reminds us that God is to be first in all areas of our life.

People are created to worship. Look how easily we worship celebrities and things. And God is saying all these things are to be 2nd to himself.

So you may get a cool new car, and it's easy to worship and think non-stop about it- but you got to remember who gave you the car and that you can use that to serve God with. (just an example).

Hope that helps. Take it easy,

Nickster

No, the word 'before' being a conceptual placement, and God being eternal, there are no other gods. The original wording in traditional poetic way is "Thou shalt not worship false gods" meaning idols.

that's the main necessary commandment. i'm no longer Christian, i'm hoping would not concern you.. G-d is pictured as "a jealous God". in actuality, there is "freedom", so, there is sin. you're asking approximately Christianity, and that i'm no longer a believer of Christianity, so, i do no longer proceed. inspite of the undeniable fact that, believing the Torah is such as believing some historic reasons, like creation of Adam and Heaven and the sin led to death come to the international. human beings did no longer pray to G-d on the time of Adam and Eva and till some next generations, inspite of the undeniable fact that, they have been giving sacrificing and sin substitute into quite significant, there substitute into the two good and evil. till Noah, and then, Abraham, and then Moses, and then Jesus.. it extremely is all key factors interior the bible. thank you!

its not possible to put one god before another they are all the same "god" who is to say the the "god" you would putting before the other "God" isnt the same god? christians have their "god", muslims and jews have their "God" too. other belief structures have two or more "Gods" but whos is to say that they are different who says there are not all the same entity and humans havent just found different ways to worship the same "god" and mutiple gods are just one "god" in different forms (ie. Sun god, Moon god etc...) religions boil down to one thing the worship of a higher power. the 10 commandments taken literally can be confusing. if you look at it like "there is a higher power" and you worship it how you wish but still belive it exists in some form then you dont have to worry about putting another god before him because you haven't.

Maybe. But seriously it means you can't worship any other gods.
It really makes no sense which is why I am an atheist.

I think "before" means "other than". It's worth looking into the original language, how it was translated and how the people spoke at the time. Even the same language changes over time which can lead to misunderstandings and incorrect interpretations.

THAT MEANS DONT PUT ALL YOUR ENERGY IN SPENDING TIME WORSHIPING IDOL gods LIKE THINGS (OBJECTS) OR ANY OTHER PAGAN gods. and if you worships other gods SECOND THEN THAT IS PUTTING THAT GOD FIRST. YOU CAN NOT WORSHIP 2 GODS. IF YOU WAS TO WORSHIP WHATEVER GOD YOUR TALKING ABOUT THEN THATS PUTTING THAT THING BEFORE GOD. IF U WORSHIP THE ONLY TRUE GOD THEN YOU WOULD NOT WORSHIP THE OTHER GOD YOUR TALKING ABOUT
