I love Calicos. They are very sweet natured and friendly. I had a long-haired Calico for 5 yrs and then she disappeared one day from my home. Its been over a year but I miss her sooo much still. These cats will touch your life w/ the love they show.

A calico is not a specific breed of cat. Its just describes an unusual fur coloring. A persian cat can be a calico and so can a manx (no tail) cat. So calicos can have different types of personalities. You might want to go to your local humane society and pick one out that has a personality that you like.

I have a calico cat and she is awesome...I have had her for four years and adore her...I have actually always had calico cats and loved them all. My first cat was calico...To me they are uniques and just awesome cats. I would definetly suggest giving them a shot. I adopted my most recent cat she was older and to me the best cat I ever had. She is friendly and a lot of company sometimes they can be ugly in color and be the greatest cat in the world. My calico is part persian and just sweet as can be her name is Miss Kitty. My advice is to go and see one and spend time with her. I think you will be very happy with it I know I am. She is like my third child...lol

The only cats that require ALOT of maintainence, is longhairs.. Other than that, EVERY cat needs to be seen by a vet atleast once a year.. I have a tortoiseshell, and have had a calico, and tabbys. They are all healthy species. No cat is PRONE to any diseases more than another.. Unless ofcourse it is born that way. So go ahead and give a calico a try. Cats are lovely.

Calicos are mixed breed females. Their personality will vary from cat to cat. I've had calicos growing up and all were great cats (and I miss them), but they all had very different personalities. When you go to adopt your cat, whether adult or kitten, pick the cat you sense a bond with. I thought I'd always get calicos, but I've had a fluffy black cat that is 12 yrs that won me over when she was a kitten. We are very bonded- part of the family.

I recommend a regular black orange and white, or gray Orange and white, basically any calico with white on it, if it is a tortoise shell no white but has blended colors all over her (99% of calico's are girls and if its a boy it would be sterile) body, I'd stay away from it. They make OK pets, but I've found the torts tend to be one person cats and also tend to be very moody, while the ones with the white tend to be very friendly, playful and not so moody. other then that they are beatiful cats and no two look alike.

I've had a few calico cats and known a lot of them too. I personally think they are the most lovable of cat breeds. They need lots of attention and can be quite demanding about showing it. They are also very sensitive. This isn't the type of cat to get if you don't plan on being home much. Good luck.

calico cats make great pets, you should go the shelter and adopt one, Im sure they would have a calico.. so many cats and dogs need homes and over 75,000 get put to sleep every year, thats just dogs. but if you decide to get one please think about adopting one from the animal shelter, you can find a family addition, that you will never regret, and there are probably several for you to choose from, so you can check out the different personalities.
