Taking birth control pills won't kill the fetus, but it will harm it. You might end up with a special needs child. Go to the doctor and look into your options before it's too late. Talk to him/her and tell them that you don't want this baby, and you don't want to carry it to give it up for adoption. She can point you to reputable clinics that will do abortions. If you are afraid to tell your parents, you sound young, then talk to a trusted grandparent or aunt. Many states allow another adult besides a parent to take you and sign the consent forms.

There are two pills being discussed here. One is Emergency Contraception, also known as the morning-after pill. This is a form of contraception, not a form of abortion. If you are not pregnant, it should keep you from becoming pregnant. It has no impact on an established pregnancy, and works only in the 72 hours after unprotected sex. (There are some studies showing that it may work after that, but they are not conclusive.)

The other pill is mifepristone, known in France as RU-486, and sold in the U.S. under the brand name Mifeprex. When taken with another medication this pill does cause an abortion. It was approved by the FDA in 2000 for use up to 7-9 weeks of pregnancy.

If you are looking for factual, unbiased information about your options, I’d suggest calling 1-800-772-9100. The people there will support you no matter what you decide to do.

Hang in there. The most important thing about this decision is that it has to be YOUR choice -- nobody else's.

There is a pill called the morning after pill that you must take within 72 hours of having unprotected sex, but it does NOT make it an abortion. It prevents your egg from clinging to the uterus, thus stopping a pregnancy BEFORE it happens. The pill is completely inaffective if you are already pregnant and will not get rid of the embryo.Other than that, if you end up pregnant and don't want to keep it you have to go to a doctor to have an abortion.

depends on how far along you are. If you think a condom broke then you take 2 or 3 of your birth control pills to force a period. I've been told that is pretty effective. Other than that and the Morning after pill which I can't remember if it's legal in the states, there is nothing else. If you are a within the 2nd tri I believe you are still able to get an abortion. But there's always adoption!

It's too late for the RU486 pill. It's generally considered a morning after product. No matter what decision she makes, it's life altering, and she needs support. To me, the best thing would be to go through with the pregnancy, and place the child for adoption. This way, she's not killing an unborn child, and she can have an open adoption, where she can continue to love the child, and have contact. There are so many people like myself, that wish to adopt. Abortion can affect her future fertility, so if she does go through with it, at least go to a reputable doctor. Her emotions after will be similar to post partum blues, because of the hormones, and the combined guilt that many women associate with abortion.

there's soemthing about RU 486 or something like that, but I am not sure how many weeks into the pregnancy you can take that.
The morning after pill, the name says it all. You need to take that within 24 hrs after having sex for it to be effective, up to 72 hrs. So if you are already pregnant that won't work.

Yes. It is called the abortion pill and if you go to Planned Parenthood in CA for an abortion that is what they will give you unless you are too far along, then you will have to get the surgical abortion.

if you already have confirmed you are pregnant there is a combination of precribed drugs that can terminate pregancy, I think surgical abortion is the most common way though, since the drugs have a higher failure rate. (this is not for the next day after an OOOPS though)

If thats what you really want to do, see a doctor about it, they will give you all the options available to you and not judge you for your decision.

um, I think it depends on how far along you are. there is this thing called the morning after pill that you can (supposedly) take up to five days after having unprotected sex. but anything after that, I'm not sure. I think I HAVE heard of something, just don't know what it is. I would never do it myself, and I would NOT recommend it to anyone. hope you make the right decision for you and your future
