My last relationship (with my only ex-boyfriend) was at 15, and lasted 5 months. It ended because my parents didn't want me seeing him. Our younger sisters were friends, so our mothers had known each other for a while. His mother was always complaining to my mother about how he had a violent temper, got into fights at school, beat up his sister, and also had an older brother who beat his girlfriend. Let's just say that when I started going out with him, it was the realization of my mother's worst fears. Of course, he only showed *me* his good side. At some point, his sister asked if we wanted to have kids some day. His answer was: "Well, not now! Maybe in ten years." My first thought was: "There's no way I'm going to be with him in ten years. I am not ending up with this guy!" Honestly, I didn't consider him to be in my intellectual range, which is important to me, and we weren't really compatible character-wise either. I didn't leave him right away after that, but I got tired of the hassle of sneaking around behind my parents' back for a guy I knew wasn't right for me. I am so glad it ended when it did, or maybe I would have missed out on the perfect guy for me. I started going out with my husband at 16, eight months after that break-up. What a contrast between the two! My ex-boyfriend was insensitive, always criticizing my looks (especially my being too skinny or pointing out any pimple on my face), until he completely ruined my self-image. My husband looked and still looks at me like I'm the most beautiful sight he's ever seen. Unlike my ex, he's sweet and very intelligent. My only use for my ex-boyfriend is that he makes me appreciate my husband that much more by comparison. Here's what I learned from that relationship: While it's impossible to know right away if you belong with someone or not, if you realize you don't, break it off right away. It's possible to feel an attachment even to someone who treats you like dirt. The sooner you end it the better, or it'll just get harder. I'm 29 now, and have been happily married since I was 19.

I'm 22 years old. My last relationship (my marriage) ended because my husband started to become abusive and violent. No, I don't regret leaving him, but I do regret staying that long (3 years) in an abusive relationship. I've learned a lot about my self worth, and not to degrade myself for anyone!
Hope that helps!

I'm 32. I'm divorced 5 years. I was seeing this guy for a year, he dumped me in May. He moved some younger chick in with him. It was all of a sudden too. He was talkin about going on a cruise to Jamaica with me just a week prior. He just cut off all contact with me, then a couple days later I heard from an acquaintance that he was seeing someone much younger.

My last relashionship was wit a guy named Kevin. We ended cuz he went 2 Florida and my friend took a pic of him cheatin on me. Then he lied and said that was a cuzin of his (yeah rite) so I called the girl and she said they were trying 2 have a baby soon.
