i am also breastfeeding and my doctor recommended an IUD the hormone levels are suppose to be low enough to not go through your milk supply and it last for up to five years . Also, its not suppose to make you gain weight and that's always a plus. And your periods are suppose to be shorter or completely go away. but when your ready to try again your suppose to be able to get pregnant a month after its removed. But to be totally honest your doctor can recommend whats best for you and your child . Congatulations on your new child! If you don't mind me adding.. to up your supply of milk, feed more often the more you feed the more you make. if you supplementing your body doesn't relize your not making enough milk.
