I could be just sitting there and it just starts hurting to breathe. Usually its around the diaphram area, and i just take short breaths untill it goes away, but right now its like in the chest area. Is something seriously wrong? or does it happen to a lot of people?
I would go to the doctor, but we dont have insurance, and I dont think my mom can afford it. Plus, I havnt told my mom, I never really thought it was that big of a deal.

It doesnt happen all the time, just like everyonce in awhile. But it still hurts, and its very confusing. My mom smokes, could that have anything to do with it?

This could be something very serious. It is not normal at all. See a doctor if it's at all possible. If you go to the emergency room, they have to treat you even if you don't have insurance. You can work out payment options later. Your health is more important than money.
Take care, and good luck.

The question is, does it happen several times in one month, or just a few times in a year?
If it's happening more than just once in a while. like several times each month, then you should definately speak to a dr.
If it's once in a while over a year, well, I get those sometimes...I call it a "charlie horse" Just means a part of the body is cramping a little. If I take a few short breaths, it goes away as the cramping eases, but would get worse if I took a deep breath. I've had them for years, but only once or twice in a years time. I had them mostly while I was growing up.
Chances are, it's just a cramp, but I still suggest seeing a dr.
The local "free clinic" in your area might can help with you getting a dr. It's income based, and since there are at least two of you in the household, and I'm guessing one income, then they may accept you and your family for medical services.
I have no insurance either and it's been a big help to me and my family. Prescrition medications are $4 each, at least in my area. If you can't find the number for the free clinic, then call up social services or the local health department, they would know. The health dept. also offers medical services, like papsmears, vaccinations, and a few other medical services income based or free of charge. No shame in using them, that's what they are there for, to help people stay healthy.
If either of you needs medications but can't afford them, there is a program to help people get the medications they need free of charge or at a very low fee. http://www.needymeds.com
When there, click on the left hand side where it says "brand name" or click on "generic" to see if your medication is listed. There are forms you can print out and take to your dr. to fill out their part, then you mail it in. You get a three months supply each time.
I would suggest printing out this information and giving it to your mom. That way she'll have the info there if she needs it.
I hope this helps.

You need to tell your mom--let her make the decision of whether she can afford it or not. You probably should be seen it may be nothing but it might be something and the longer you wait the worse the problem could be--it could be something as simple as allergies and you need to stay away from a certain food etc

Most of the time its caused by stress or muscle tension, it happens to every one at some point you just have to take it easy and relax. Go outside for a couple of minutes, the fresh air would ease you a little bit.

Please tell your mom. There may be a clinic she can take you to - but you do need a professional to give you a check-up. It may be gas - it may be something more serious. We can only guess and suggest what it may be. Find out for sure so you can stop stressing which could lead to more problems!

It could be a health issue or it could be gas, I know that sounds crazy but it really could be just gas. You sound too young to have any kind of health issues like having a heart attack or anything like that.
