because people like wasting there money on an 8 dollar cup of sugar water, mixed w. shitty coffee.

There is not one Starbucks in the City I live in. I sure wish there was.

Franchises open and operate because they offer a low cost product with substantial upcharge that will offset the building overhead and allow them to make a large profit. It is a prudent business strategy, it builds a client base, and it keeps them available to everyone.

so if someone gets a caffeine urge, they'll go to the nearest coffee shop they see. which is how starbucks gets so much money.
