sugar ray! the most complete and talented fighter to ever lace on gloves - two fisted power, speed, footwork, class, heart, solid jaw, great defense and could knock you out going forwards or backwards. he never ducked anyone and had classic fights in several different weight classes. he reportedly didn't even like fighting, but was great at it, naturally! on paper, no own would stand a chance. even if he lost, he would get them in the rematch. but ya know what? i think had he fought ali, ali would've just eked out a win over him as ali was a freak of nature and usually defied the odds.

Jimmy Wilde - legendary (in Wales) Welsh World Flyweight Champion 1916-1923. He went unbeaten for four years and 101 fights, only lost 4 of his 149 official bouts and scored knockouts against almost 100 of his opponents. If this guy was a heavyweight everyone would know his name...

1. Rocky Marciano because of his amzing endurance and knockout punch. He refused to lose.
2. Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest ring technician of them all with amazing boxing skills.
3. Roberto Duran. Remember Duran was perhaps the greatest lightweight ever moving up to welterweight beating Leonard, moving up to middleweight and beating Barkely and giving Hagler a hard fight. A truly amazing fighter.

"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather...he is 35-0, has beaten some really tough opponents, and has never been knocked down. Hell, he has hardly ever been hit! People think Ali because heavyweights were popular back in the day, but heavyweights are boring, all they do is hug, and throw half as many punches as a welterweight. Floyd is easily the most skilled!

I would say it is very close between two boxers in my eyes, i would say the afore mentioned Sugar Ray Robinson would definitely have to be in the shake up but the other i would say would be Julio Cesar Chavez, in modern day boxing we will never see a record like Chavez's again.

I had a boxer puppy that weighed 90 pounds. Does that count?
And all that furrows on me is my brow.
*shrugs* Sorry......just felt compelled to answer all of your questions and this was the best I could do on this one. They can't all be clever. *cough*

It has to be Winky...I am a huge Winky fan. I converted when I saw him fight Jermaine Taylor...what a fight! I recently saw a fight with Cherry and Alicea...and Cherry just gained a new fan...I am very impressed! He continued to fight with an injured right hand and won. "hands down". It was awesome! I have always respected Duran. I may not be up on all the technical boxing lingo...but I know skill when I see it.

Someone already said Sugar Ray Robinson, and I would have to agree. He fought in several weight classes and continued to fight later in his years than he should have. A shrewd character when it came to business in the ring, but not so smart when it came to managing his money. A fighter who Ali modeled himself after.
