I think the hole is where the tooth on the top of the mouth would rest on the tooth from the bottom of the mouth. It doesn't seem to be on the side of the tooth.

Make sure you make an appointment to have your filling put back in, it's possible you have decay in the tooth and that's why the filling came out. You CAN eat and drink as long as it doesn't hurt to do so, the tooth won't get any worse.. They also sell temporary filling material that you can mix up and put in the hole if you can't get to the dentist for awhile, it is available in every drugstore.

Stay away from sugary or sticky foods and drinks. Don't do anything that hurts the tooth and make sure it stays clean for the most part.

Oh, and make an appointment with your dentist at the earliest opportunity.
They may drill a little more, but they will put a brand new shiny filling in the tooth and you won't have to worry about that tooth root rotting and causing more pain and expensive treatment later on.

Drink you may, but be careful with solids as they may get stuck up in the cavity, which will cause you problems. Best is to get it refilled at the earliest and if you can't and if you have to continue taking your food, then make sure that the cavity of your tooth remains free from stuck-up food material. Rinse your mouth well after a meal.

They make a putty kind of stuff you can put over the hole, sorta like a temp filling. It is kinda waxy. It is somewhat difficult to find in some places, but drug stores might carry it.
My friend had it happen and went to her orthodontist and got that wax you cover exposed wires with and used it until her appointment.

that hole that is there might just allow your nerve ending to be almost exposed. If that is so, than food or drink can send pain shooting through your jaw and you thru the roof. if the air doesn't bother it, it might be okay - for now. i would get to a dentist soon so that it doesn't become a problem and give you such terrible pain that you can't even think let alone breathe!

I would get an appointment asap. You should be able to eat and drink if it is not to painful. But I would also be careful about what you are eating. I have had lots of fillings and I know it is painful. Best of luck.

Yes you can eat and drink with it but you need to get it fixed asap and make sure that you keep it as clean as possible in the mean time.

Melt some candle wax or buy some ortho wax and stick it in there, until you can get to the dentist to have him refill it.
That will stop it from cuttig, food getting in it, or sometimes can help with the sensativity.

I can see it now, a family Christmas to remember. Never spent Christmas with Louise, but it sounds like fun.
