I am the same way in a sense. I can always tell when someone has been in my office or messed with my belongings in the house. My husband laughed at me one day when he found me on the floor with my personal label maker labeling shoe boxes that were under the bed and then putting them under there in color groups.

My mom's a neat "freak" --I certainly don't find her freaky--it's an ugly word too and I'm pretty sloppy, yet I lived with her until I was 28 and we got along fine. It's just who she is. However, now that she's elderly, it's hard for her to keep cleaning without exhausting herself, so we have to work on that one. My neighbor is exactly the same as you, and he wouldn't sell us this house of his until he felt comfortable that we'd fit in with his lifestyle and we'd leave him alone. I think he's a wonderful guy and wish more people appreciated his cleanliness and order instead of picking at him. There is a point of where being highly organized and clean becomes a negative behavior and interferes with your job, relationships, everything and then help is needed. You're not there, so don't worry about people who are arm-chair psychiatrists here.

Yes, I am an OCD sufferer. It's not funny, it's a real illness. Don't let other people ridicule you for something you just can't help. If you are uncomfortable with yourself for it, try and see your doctor for some treatment suggestions. Your obsession doesn't sound unhealthy, though, so you shouldn't worry about it! =P

And they would have you believe that this is a disorder, sad. I have to be neat. I try to dress as nice as possible within my budget and i like to have my apt in order. My soon to be x b.f is a pig and it drives me crazy that he is such a loser. Messy people are pigs. They waste time looking for things. Us organised individuals look good and we feel good cause of it.
