Not at all. You seem pretty independent because you're going to school and paying everything with your job. Most people actually move back home for a while after graduating college because the job market is bad and they need a place to live until their degree gets them a place. I personally know a couple 22 and 23 year olds that are in that situation. I'm a 19 year old sophomore in college and I live with my parents, because my college is in town too. I'm just like you, where I pay as much as I can through my part time job but rely on my parents for a roof over my head. My philosophy is that once you get a good paying full time job from your college degree, then you should move out. Until then, don't worry about it.

The average age of financial independence is 26. It used to be that you could go get a good factory job right out of high school that would pay enough so that you could support a family, buy a modest house etc. That is not true anymore. You almost have to study or work your way up through crap-paying jobs until you can make a decent wage. Besides, in many countries, generations live together their whole lives. It is just in American that we feel the obligation to move away as fast as possible. On the other hand, you should not free-load on your parents. They deserve to enjoy their retirement.

Unless your in college, you better think about a job and getting your own place. This is the time to do it especially since your young with no attachments.
Make the move. It'll be better for you as a growing man. Nothing earns more respect with people than a person having his/her own. You'll find people will respond to you with respect and having your own place will make you a responsible person and a person who will more likely get the kind of jobs you want and the things you need. You don't have to get a condo (unless your a trust fund baby), but something simple and basic, near public transportation (even if you have a car), and near basic conveniences (24hr laundry, supermarket, 24 hr deli) and so forth.
Make your move dude (the ladies love that too... ;) ).

Not at all. In many cultures sons and daughters live with there parents until they are married. Nevertheless, you're still a kid at 20 and have a lot to learn from your parents. Not to mention, your just starting to establish yourself as an adult. My only advice, don't take your situation for granted and be appreciative of what you have.

Nope. I'm 24 and still live at home. Bad thing is I make more money that my parents do but, I'm saving for a house. Just as long as you're doing something while living their and have a goal, it's ok. But, do your parents want you out?

Only if your parents want you to leave! In New York State, U.S., I believe the law requires parents to provide food, shelter and clothing to children under 21. I have some friends who dearly want their wayward son out of their house since he has an anger management problem, a criminal record, regularly abuses them in other non-violent ways, does nothing to help the household, and creates huge bills with his tendancy to make unauthorized purchases in his parents' names. However, the police say he has a barrel over their heads until he is 21.
In any case, there are any number of good reasons for adult children to remain living at home - it all depends on the specific circumstances. If your parents don't mind, then stay at home if you wish. Just make sure to contribute to the household either financially or by helping out with chores etc.

NO. My son is 21 and still lives at home. He is in college and works to pay for that, and to save some money he lives here.
It is bad if you are a bum and don't support yourself and mooch off of your parents!
Besides rent is sooooooooooo expensive now.

It's probably good that you live with them.. Pay them some rent and set some goals to move out in the future...save some money, build up good credit. Some kids move out to soon and it effects the rest of their lives. Go to school and get a career going. As long as your parents don't mind and you all get along stay.
My son moved out before he was ready and has had a tough time of it. He ended up quitting college to support himself and in the process ruined his credit. He has struggled to fix it all and is doing a good job of fixing it but it's really hard. I think he moved out way to soon and wasn't ready.

No its not bad. U have the advantage over MANY to SAVE cash~ Cause the parents charge little to no rent~ They may ask you to cover the cable or phone bill. Especially if you have a house, just move to the basement. no need of pressing the move unless you be having company like EVERYDAY~ ALL-DAY~ NEVER want to go home type of company~ Then you will need to spread your wings and GET OUT

yes, the best way to get out is to max out your credit cards in motel rooms, join a gym and use it as a shower away from home( well the motel room) if you have a car then rent is only the price of a full tank of gas. You can drive around, looking for a safe spot to sleep. steer clear of alleys and parks. stay close to business areas and if you have a battery powered alarm clock you can park in some elses drive way.
