Simple steps to prayer

Prayer is the way we communicate with our Father in Heaven. Heavenly Father is always willing to listen to your deepest feelings and concerns. You wouldn’t talk to your best friend by following a rigid written text, nor would you do all the talking. It is the same with prayer. Don’t worry too much about the “mechanics” of your prayer. Just open up your heart and speak to Him.
A simple prayer should follow four basic steps:

Address God as “Father in Heaven” or “Heavenly Father.”
Thank Him for the things for which you are grateful (“We thank thee for . . .”).
Ask Him for what you need (“We ask thee . . .”).
Jesus is the mediator (1 John 2:1) between us and Heavenly Father, so close your prayer by saying, “In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
These steps to prayer serve adults and may be easily taught to children.

Considering that most Christians believe in the trinity I think this poses a very interesting situation since you're asking whether to pray to God OR Jesus. Does that mean that you think they are two different beings? Very interesting........I do as a metter of fact. I think that the Godhead consists of three seperate beings that are one in purpose. If nothing else it does make one think and wonder.

From what I understand about Christian religion, you pray to Jesus because we are too tainted to pray to God. But we pray to Jesus and then Jesus goes and tells God about it and God makes or doesn't make the prayer happen. Jesus is kind of like a messenger to God. At least that's how it was explained to me. I could be wrong.

You pray to God in Jesus' name, through the Help of the Holy Spirit.

If you are new to prayer- you should ask a friend at church to help you. Your Christian bookstores also have lots of great books which teach on how to pray...

Hope that helps,

Nickster

You can pray to both. God and Jesus are the same people. I think when you need a friend, need to ask for forgiveness, need that special thing you can call on Jesus. For anything you can pray to God or the Father, when Jesus taught the diciples to pray he said "Our Father"
