VERY good question!
A lot of people are too quick to gripe and complain if they don't feel they are treated well. However, when they are treated outstandingly, these same people never take the time to say "thank you"--either to the representative themself, the representative's supervisor, or by calling the corporate office.
I think it would be a much happier world that we live in if we gave as much positive feedback as we do negative.

I have done both.
Once at a theme park, my wife and I got a perfectly prepared fast-food meal.
I want back to the counter when we were done and asked to see the manager.
I think they were a little bit taken aback, but after I talked to the manager it was apparent I had made several people's day.
That said ...
If you get crappy service and don't report it, you're only hurting the next people in the proverbial line.

I do complain but only with a logical complaint and a suggestion for resolution.
Yes I do contact managers or logon to websitest to tell someone about a great job.
I work in Retail.

God customer service jobs suck. Being nice to a thankless public is humiliating. Definitely if you receive good service tell someone or tip them because it's a sucky job.

I try to. You always hear about the bad experience. If I have an above average or particular good experience (an excellent waiter/waitress, for example) I try to let the manager know. Kudos go a long way.

ALWAYS give feedback on customer service. If their executive management never receives feedback on how good or bad their customer service is, it will never get better.

I do complain if it is justified, and I have.
I have also talked to a manager about great service I have received.

Sometimes I do both although people seem to take excellent service for granted.
