Larry Holmes record speaks for itself, he held the title the second longest in history and did not start to lose until he was almost forty years old, and he never got K.O.ed by an average fighter like Lewis did vs McCall.......

Holmes in 15 Rds

Lennox Lewis in a late round TKO. Holmes was a very good if not great fighter, but Lewis has the size, strength and skills to defeat Holmes. This would be an interesting match, but in the end I think Lewis' size and strength wears Holmes out.

I believe that Larry Holmes was one of the most underrated and under appreciated fighters of all time although he made comments that didn't exactly endear him to the boxing public. Larry had one of the top 3 or 4 jabs in boxing history and almost tied Marciano's record along the way. Lewis also had a good jab though not as good as Larry and beat some pretty tough fighters including Tyson who was already washed up when they met. I believe that Larry Holmes would dominate and control the fight and land the harder punches during this fight and win by unanimous decision.

Lennox Lewis in History rankings will be ranked over Holmes because in a match up Lewis would beat Holmes with his Jab.

There is something rotten in Yahoo boxing answers

Lewis - W 41 (KO's 32) TF 44 - W pct 93% - KO pct 73% - wins over Tyson, Holyfield{2} and Mercer - KO'ed by McCall and H.Rahman - #33 ranked puncher - #53 ranked fighter
Lewis is not appreciated by boxing experts because he was not an American fighter.

Holmes - W 69 (KO's 43) TF 75 - W pct 92% - KO pct 57% - wins over M. Weaver, Shavers, Berbick and Mercer - KO'ed by Tyson (Holmes was old and washed up) - #27 ranked fighter
Good chin/great boxer

Holmes by a decision.
