i know exactly what you mean. I was raised in Arkansas and just recently moved to chicago, IL and people make fun of me all of the time and call me country. I hate that stuff.

You aren't the only one and Arkansas isn't the only state that people are made fun of from. I'm from cental California and I live in a hick town in the middle of a valley w/ huge cow farms all around and fields of cotton and alfalfa everywhere you look!! People are just sooo stupid. They think because I live in a farming valley that I'm a farmer and yeah i may listen to country music but that does not make me a hillbilly!!! I hate when people stereotype like this!. There are over 3,000 kids at my high school!! Thats not exactly small..

It's just that we have this mental image of Arkansas as filled with hillbilly local yokels who marry their own sisters and spend a lot of time at the still, outwitting the revenooers and feuding with one another with their squirrelly rifles.
We know that it is not the case, but stereotypes are particularly hard to kill.
They're worse that Dracula, as they keep rising from the grave.

Im from Kentucky and I get made fun of for my accent all the time.
Like I walk around bare foot and in overalls all the time.
I feel the pain.
I guess that I should start walking that way, just for fun that is!

I am from Camden, Even though I don't live there anymore people make fun of me all the time. I get all the hillbilly jokes you could imagine. I don't know why but I think that it is similar to being blond, people assume that you are unintelligent.
