I just purchased an eight month old Razors Edge Pitbull.
He weighs 80+ lbs, cost me $1500.00,UKC&ADBA Registered,Great temperment. I thought with all these qualities it would be easy to breed him but I am having trouble marketing him
any Ideas

he is too young to 'market'....when he is 2 years old..place cards on bulletin boards at pet supply shops and groomers, feed stores, etc..or ads in your penny pincher paper.

if you show him, and he is a consistant winner..the ladies will be waiting in line...
Never put up pics of him on a chain..that shows that he is untrainable as a pet.

Wait a second, aren't Razor's Edge dogs Bulldogs? As in American Bulldogs. Please don't breed him with a pitbull.

If you truly want to profit from your purchase, please, show him, he sounds like a magnificent dog, but if you truly want to solidify the lineage, show him. there are plenty of dog shows going on at any time of the year. If you get him into the showring it will be much easier for you to find someone who understands the breed, and has experience.

When you show your dog you meet other bulldog owners and you can learn a lot about the breed as well as meet potential clients for the future. 8 Months is far too young to breed, it might not be successful.

The puppies are more likely to be successful when you deal with show dogs who have been tested genetically by a responsible and ethical breeder, so that the lineage will be made better instead of worse.

Razors Edge? Lol....I'm sure you can find some hippos to breed him with. Seriously, Razors Edge "pit bulls" have mastiff mixed in. There is no possible way those dogs are true pit. Pit bulls are athletes, and those kegs on legs they are breeding look like they couldn't walk to the end of the driveway without loosing their breath. Real pits should be lean, conditioned athletes weighing 30-50 lbs. Please have your dog neutered, he may be a wonderful companion but pure pit bull he is not. There are already thousands of pits dieing daily in shelters for simple lack of home.

Breeding pups is hard work. Did you buy the dog nearby? If you live in the same area as the original breeder then no one will come to you because you lack experience. Best thing is move to an area with no pit bulls and a lot of people who may want one....

First of all an 8 month old shouldn't be bred! Second, breeding should only be done to better the breed in conformation, health, temperment and overall quality.

They aren't exactly family pets. I was a breeder of St. Bernards and showed them for many years. Its not something to enter into lightly. I would really think it over prior to getting into breeding any dog. There are so many nice dogs in the pounds. Think about it??

It is sad but people are afraid of the breed. I have a male and he is the sweetest thing. They only offers I have had are from people who would use the puppies for fighting. I am totally against any type of animal abuse.

It's probably because Pit Bulls are possibly the most overbred dog. You could show him.

Backyard Breeders are bad ideas. Leave it to the professionals.
