Exactly (none)! St. Nicholas was just an ordinary man, but gossip goes a long way! Especially back 2000 years ago when everything spread through word of mouth!

I think a better analogy would be that it is just as likely that God narrated the Christian Bible as it is that Santa Claus narrated "The Night before Christmas."

When Christianity started, people knew that humans wrote their texts. It's more of a modern belief (the last 25% of the religion's existence) that the "divine inspiration" theology has come into play.

Take a look at the Pentateuch: it was sewn together from at least 4 different sources to make one text. This is why there are 2 different creation stories in Genesis and not everything is consistent. If this is something that interests you, sign up for a class on the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible or the New Testament!

Furthermore, just because a few things in the Bible are proven true doesn't mean that the entire text is valid! Almost every book had a different author at a different time, and there has been huge amount or redaction over the last few thousand years!

If you look into history and search for truth and answers for santa claus you can't find any. He is known as a myth an dwill stay as a myth. Santa claus is a pagan symbol of christmas. There is no proof that Santa is real. However, there is proof that God is real and that he is the author of the bible. They have found Noahs ark, the ark of the covenant, the parting of the red sea, the chariots, the mountain where jesus was crucified. There is proof that the bible is real and that God is real. There is no one else on this earth that has the powers to be able to make the earth and destroy evil. There is no human being that could write the bible by himself within a human lifetime. If there was a human being that wrote that book, they had to have had Gods help for the simple fact of the proof that is left behind. Man is full of flaw, and for the bible to be flawless I believe that man had to have a leading hand in writing that book to make it the right way that it is . The only person that could have the leading hand is God.

There is proof that the bible is from God just as there is proof that Santa Claus doesn't exist. We know through history how and where the story and myth of Santa Claus began just as we know the story and proof behind the bible, which can be proven through various means, so lets take a look at one of those means by using the following Acronym MAPS:

MANUSCRIPTS

-The Old Testament dead sea scrolls were found in 1948 off the northwest corner of the dead sea. They are exactly identical to the Hebrew bible today!
-The Bible was written over a period of some fifteen hundred years or more(from at least 1400 B.C. to nearly A.D. 100) Only God could have kept it in existence for that long. And only God could have kept a rediculours story of Jesus on earth (rediculous to non-believers) in existence for all this time. He was Born of a virgin, did many miracles, and died and then rose again and this impacted everyone so much that the date time was started over again (B.C.=Before Christ)(A.D.=Ado domini(spelling?)=after Christ) And Jesus even fulfilled all the things He was prophecied to do in the Old Testament as the Messiah.
-The Bible is composed of 66 different books. All the authors not contradicting each other is amazing.
-When they copied the Bible, they used to copy it letter by letter.
-etc.

ARCHEOLOGY

-The fact that the Jews(Israely people)are still alive today and that they became a nation again May 14, 1948 is a miracle!
-Israel is a real nation today(1999) and is in the newspaper almost every week! Why would the world pay so much attention to such a small little country? and why are they always getting persecuted? It was prophecied that it would happen.
-Jesus was shown to be a real person and is talked about outside of the Bible. Even most religions believe in Jesus as a real person who once was on earth.(some say He is just a prophet, etc. but the Bible says He is God)
-etc.

PROPHECY

-The Bible is 70% prophecy(7,000 verses of prophecy). 90% of the prophesies have come to pass with 100% accuracy and 10% are developing right now.
-In the Old Testament and New Testament, it says and prophecies of Jesus coming to the earth. Jesus coming from a virgin, etc. All the verses and prophecies of Jesus can be found here
-Israel was prophesied to become a nation again(Zechariah 2:12; Ezekiel 37:21 "and say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will take the Israelites out of the nations where they have gone. I will gather them from all around and bring them back into their own land.") And it did become a nation again on May 14, 1948
-Israel was prophesied to fill the world with fruit(Isaiah 27:6 "In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.") Today(1998) Israel is the 3rd nation of exporting fruit! and all the land surrounding Israel is a desert wasteland and barren!
-Israel is cursed and people will hate them(Jeremiah 29:18 "I will pursue them with the sword, famine and plague and will make them abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth and an object of cursing and horror, of scorn and repoach, among all the nations where I drive them.") Look at all the people that hate Israel and God's people(the Jews)-Hitler, etc., etc. and most people don't even have a reason to hate them, they just do! They do because the Bible said it would happen.
-etc.

STATISTICAL PROBABILITY

-The chances of Just 8 prophecies in the bible happening with 100% accuracy is 1 times 10 to the 16th power. That means, the chances of 8 prophecies happening is 10000000000000000! and their are thousands of prophecies that have happened with 100% accuracy!

Well, first of all, it's been proven that Santa Clause doesn't exist. No mentally competent person over the age of 10 truly believes in Santa Clause. The Bible, on the other hand, has never been disproven, but rather, many things that it claims have been proven. Oh, yeah, and there's a heck of a lot of people over the age of 10 that believe it's from God.

The difference is fear. Every religion is based on fear of the unknown. Noone truly knows what happens after we die, so that is THE common thread for all religions. Each religion follows this basic tenent - do what I say, or you will have to suffer this punishment after you die.
Disproving their theories would be as hard as disproving someone who truly believes in Santa. After all, Santa lives in a magical kingdom that we can't go to because we are not one of his "magical helpers". Santa says that there will be Christmas every year - and there is. Santa will bring you presents - and some people get presents and some people don't. Obviously, those people who didn't get one did something bad - because Santa sees all. "Well, we all now know that our parents brought us those gifts." Duh, that was Santa working through your parents. "Why don't we get gifts from Santa anymore?" Because you stopped believing in Santa.
If you want to get a religious person mad, try to get them to disprove Santa. If their answer is "Easy, everyone knows he doesn't exist" - that is not proof, that is conjecture. Try again.

In this way you can see how useless it is to try to disprove someones religion. The arguments are circular. It is true because "Santa" wishes it - and he is Santa, he can do anything.
Trying to disprove a religion is like competing in the special olympics - you might win some, but you always end up feeling a little less intelligent.

It would depend on whether you believe those who wrote it or a ghost they say wrote it. the bible is simply words written by a group of scribes so called scholars back then,If we use logic even back then man used some pretty strong hallucinating drugs to get their point across, today we call it LSD and ironically those that use it talk and see God and they seriously believe this is happening, now whether or not you believe it or not believe it there are those who will and those who wont, the whole bible is written on hearsay and speculation there is no credible proof other than some ancient script that may or may not be true, common sense and logic tells me God did not! physically write the bible or even have a hand in it only man did, so you have a choice here you believe in it or you don't that simple.

first of all there is no god ,so that book you are speaking of couldn't of been written by it. man wrote it for morons that couldn't think for themselves and needed to always be slaaped up side the dumb part of the head. Lets just what if there was a god (ha ha ha ) and he knew that he was the one and only true , Then why would he have put as the first of the ten kindegarten commandments. "THOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER god BEFORE ME. Why would he say that if he was the only god sounds like maybe he wasn't telling us something he knew or better yet he was a very insecure god just as his petri dish believers are very insecure about there god. so insecure that they must go around telling the free thinkers of this great planet Earth that we are in trouble if we don't think like they do, or atleast they think it is thinking. The cocept of a god is is slowly to slow for me dieing out. man is slowly crawling out of the dark ages and waway from the nonsence that has kept him from moving forward to a fuller better life for all human on this planet. And nature will be deliverer of truth . The fure cannot be written. People can predict, but only nature can guarentee. You can study nature for ever but you will never predict her actions. On the other hand you can study man and his ways long enough you will be able to predict alot of things about him.Man once believed the world was flat ,but his believing it didn't make it so. Enough said all religions are a detriment to our planet. thier ideas will destroy it and guess what when you get to your heaven the light at the end of your tunnel is gonna be a frieght train., thank you and peace. oh one more thing no god gave you anything that you enjoy today it was a dead or crippled soldier that went out and secured your freedom and those rights tou are so eager to trample on. like most xristians you rae a hypoctits and can not stand to have the sandel on the other foot you guys can dish it but you can't take it.

The difference is in the distortions. Santa Claus really does exist, however he does not sneak into your house in the middle of the night to bring you gifts while elves at a workshop on the north pole work tirelessly to manufacture the gifts.

The same with the bible- Because there are so many distortions of what the bible actually says that it is reasonable to question the validity of the bible.

Atheism is a rejection of the existence of a god or larger ability. An atheist ought to haven't any problem making the reality that "God does no longer exist" at the same time as requested "Does God exist?" that is the polar antonym of theism, the perception that a god or larger ability does exist. Agnosticism is somewhat extra complicated. Philosophically, that is the shortcoming of perception in ideal expertise. To an agnostic, there must be no truth about any claims to absolute reality. consequently, at the same time as posed an same question - "Does God exist?" - an agnostic ought to in hardship-free words reply "i do not comprehend and that i can't comprehend that, and neither are you able to." there is not any specific rejection of the existence of a larger ability or being as in atheism.

You could go to the North Pole and see there is no Santa's workshop. And since there are no witnesses that saw a giant hand come down from the sky and write the bible, I doubt that was written by god.
