There was one eye witness to the incident but no cameras caught it at this mall. How do I go about tracking this person or vehicle down?

Unless the witness got a license plate you are out of luck. If he/she did get a plate, officers can follow up on the investigation.

You can file a report with your local law enforcement agency. Then report it to your insurance agency. If there were no witnesses you probably want get much more. If you have a small agency they might take the time to review the cameras in the parking lot but that doubtful because most law enforcement agencies don't have time to work hit and runs with no injuries.

File a report with your local law enforcement. Notify your insurance carrier. If the witness got the tag number of the vehicle, the officer can obtain the owner (and responsible party) information. If the tag number was not obtained, you are out of luck---I hope you have full coverage on your insurance.

unless the eye witness has a REALLY good description of the person and vehicle, or the license plate # its probably next to impossible to find this person.

chalk it up to bad luck and get it fixed.

Do you have the licensed plate number? If so report the number to the police dept. and they will assist you in finding the owner of the car. If not all you can do is contact your insurance agent and pay to get your car fixed yourself.
