"so everybody knows that the soldiers are brave"
Ha! what a crock of ****! United Statesian soldiers are among the best prepared psychologically, better trained physically, have the most advanced weapons from stealth weaponry to pilotless drones in the sky, by far the most advanced technology the world has EVER seen and outnumber the (fighting) enemy five to one. The enemy fights with half century old rifles, hand made explosive and the cover of dark.
If the United Statesian soldier get injured they get the best medical treatment science can give, the soldier gets life long monetary compensation and the man/woman treated as a hero. The enemy gets injured he gets his wounds treated with mud and hope the bleeding stops. For the rest of his life he will have to provide for himself as a crippled and in nations were there are no special considerations for people with disabilities.
I could go on and on but you get the idea, a 120,000 strong United Statesian army fighting a 20,000 to 30,000 strong resistance hardly qualifies the United Statesian soldier as brave or courageous.
The United Statesian soldier is neither wrong nor right, he is doing his job. The United States may be wrong or right in intervening but the soldier is simply fulfilling his duties.
Yes France intervened in the United Statesian civil war, France's naval forces blocked the British army from retreating and their canons leveled the otherwise impregnable British forts. They also provided assistance with money and munitions. Mr. Franklin was the architect of that.
Soldiers while on duty, can not speak their mind. They are not allowed because doing so would be demoralizing to the rest of the troops. After they've left active duty as a civilian they have the right to criticize their government all they want but NOT while on active service.

This isn't as easy as black and white. Every soldier is entitled to their opinion and should not be judged for it. It is easy to see why someone that has been over there risking his life says that the reason why they are over there is wrong. I always believed that my husband went with all the right reasons in mind -- but was sent for all the wrong. He went to make a difference in the lives of the Iraqi people, and he did. His unit rebuilt 2 schools and 3 orphanages. They put a lot of order in what used to be lawless chaos. They stopped a lot of Bad people. But there were also some bad times. My husband is proud of what he did (from a human point of view) and he would go again if sent. Then again we had a lot of guys in our unit that felt different. I still respect them for what they've done and respect their opinion. Then again there are a few that come back, lying about what they were doing there, shedding a bad light on our soldiers and their dedication.
However sometimes the question arises if what our boys do over there truly is for the safety of the US. Wouldn't we be better off to have our soldiers guard our borders, airports, embassies, etc? The recent developments show that we are in no way safe from terrorism, and that trampling all over Baghdad really doesn't make a difference.
In the end, noone really will know for sure what the right thing would be for our country and the world. One thing about terrorists --- they're unpredictable.

I'm sure there are a lot Military people that don't agree with this war, and even the ones that do agree with it still don't enjoy being over there! I'm sure they would much rather be at home with their loved ones in the safety of their own house, but that's not the way the Military works. When you enlist in the Military, you're not given the chance to decide what wars you will and will not fight in. Nowhere in the contract does it say you'll get to stay home if there is war that comes up and you don't agree with it, or if you get sent off to fight in a war and then decide you don't want to be there, that you get to come home before everyone else does. If you don't want to take the chance of ever fighting in war, being away from your family for months and months at a time, moving around every few years, not being allowed to speak out against the President, and taking orders, then just don't enlist! I'll be the first to admit I couldn't handle being in the Military! I'm a Military wife, and that is stressful enough! But to be away from everyone I love for months and months...I don't know how they do it. When my husband leaves for deployments or anything else Military related, the kids and I miss him so much, but at least the kids and I are in the safety of our own home, and we have each other to lean on until daddy walks back through that door! But he has no family with him, and he is sometimes in a foreign hostel country. I admire my husband and people like him, because I think it takes a very brave and giving person to do what they do, but they decide to do it on their own and they know there are risk involved in their decision.

America should be in Iraq because its not a civil war yet. America is trying to stop Iraq from having a civil war and keep the peace. If it becomes a Civil War officiley, were outa there theres ntohing we can do any more. On the news you only see the soldiers who hate this war. Well alot of soldiers are proud to be there and think we should be tehre! Actualy, Im proud to say that im one of those soldiers, i just came home. I am proud of this war and so were about 500 of my men! i only met a handful of men who didnt like the war.

I believe that you are going to think whatever you want. Everyone is entitled to that but if you are in the military you should keep your mouth shut about it. Either way if you are against it or for it you are going over there so whats to point of voicing against it.
As a military member I think you should back up your commander (President Bush). So no matter what your opinion is you should just stay positive about the situation and move on. Dont ago around publicly stating that you disagree with Bush and he should be out of office because then you are putting him down and looking at being charged under the UCMJ....
Just my 2 cents.....

I am in the military, and I know that bringing our troops home early would do nothing but ensure they will have to fight the same people using the same tactics at a different time and place. The only difference is that we will be fighting a stronger enemy, because they will have already shown that those tactics will drive us away (first in Somalia, and now in Iraq if we pull out early).

Are Iraqi war veterans who want America out of the war in Iraq wrong? If you are driving your car and you cause an auto-accident are you required to stop and render aid? If you involve yourself in the affairs of other nations and destroy their government, leading to a civil war, what would you do? Just bail out, perhaps invade another country? Would that make you a bad politician? I'm just trying to rephrase your question.

Everyone has their opinion and thats what is so nice about this country THEY CAN SPEAK IT! oh wait.. not with Chimpy in office. The military man or woman who can stand up for their beliefs and how they feel even in the face a their commander is the greates soldier of all.

Spent 34 years in the military, including in Viet Nam. It's not our call whether we should be there. I felt at the time that we should not be in Nam, but we were, so it was my job to do the job there. I was betrayed because the US government pulled us out before we could win, and made the deaths of everyone in Nam meaningless. I hope that they don't do that to us in Iraq. Let's finish the job we have. Whether you think we should or should not be there, or I think we should or should not be there, we are there. Let's finish it right and not wimp out like we did in Nam
