I have had a large variety of dogs and from my experience its just best to get anything checked by a vet. For an older animal you don't want to take any chances so just make an appointment at the vet and see if everythings ok. Afterward if she was a good girl, treat her with some doggy ice cream or something!

sounds like bortadella, aka kennel cough. You can take her to the vet and they can prescribe expensive medication or if your vet is cool they'll tell you that childrens robotusson will do the trick for much less and no office fees. you don't have to board your dogs for them to catch this either, just in case you interpret kennel cough literally. usually clears up in 4-7 days with the robotusson based on my experiences.

any number of things could cause a cough in a dog. she could have kennel cough (dont let the name fool you, a dog can pick it up any where), it could also be a sign of heart worms or even heart failure. i would take her to the vet just to be sure. just keep in mind that she is a "senior citizen" so some things that the vet says might be hard to hear. i recommend having someone go with you.

You should consult a vet. For a senoir pet, a cough can be a lot of things. She could have a respiratory infection, kennel cough, bronchitis, cardiac insufficiency or even dental problems. I had a pug that coughed for years because of a collapsed trachea.

its probably kennel cough.. if its been around a sick dog or at a kennel recently, she most likely has gotten sick that way.. pay a visit to the vet.

I jsut wanted to mention that heartworms are the number one killer of dogs and if you would be treating them then it i important you get to the vet like yesterday....... by the time a dog starts showing symptoms of heartworms....well in alot of cases it is to late.... I dont want to make it sound so serious but it is..... you need to get her tested if only to find out so you can make the decisions that go with a hearworm positive result...

The persistent cough is often associated with Heart trouble, kennel cough (can catch it anywhere, not just kennels) tracheal damage, or heart-worm..Only a vet can diagnose what it really is..

Has he been boarded in a kennel while you were on holiday? or been to a vet recently?
If so may be Kennel Cough. Your dog will need medication so take him to a vet.
