I have super curly hair too. I have found that Blue Magic works very well. I buy it at Wal-Mart. There are 3 different types, I've used them all but have found the coconut based one to work the best b/c it is lighter than the blue and green ones.
I have also used baby oil gel. I don't use any gel/spray my hair is not frizzy and is very soft.
A few tips I've found to work over the years;
1. Depending on your hair type, do NOT shampoo every day it robs your hair of its natural ointments. I have dry hair so I shampoo about 1x a week depending on activity level.
2. Get a good conditioner, I use Pantene Pro-V for ethnic ladies. Rinse with cool water.
3. Use a wide tooth comb in the shower with the conditioner in your hair.
4. Towel dry - NO HEAT -
5. Apply the blue magic or baby oil gel while hair is still wet.
GOOD LUCK!!

I have a similar problem - for years and years I've tried every product and never been satisified.
The truth is that shampoo and conditioner are way more important than styling products.
Curly hair needs moisture to keep the curls in nice shape -- moisture inside the hair, not coming from the atmosphere, of course. Shampoo tends to dry out hair and ruin curls. You need a specialized shampoo and conditioner designed for curly hair.
Also, don't wash your hair too often. Don't you find your hair looks better when it's "dirty?" Your hair has natural moisturizers and oils which are good for it. Even the most gentle shampoo and conditioner will dry out and weigh down your hair and cause frizz if used too often. I would say wash it every other day.
The products I've been using are called DevaCurl Low-poo and One Conditioner. I buy them at the salon, so they're a little pricey. But they are soooo worth it! After I shampoo, I just scrunch the hair with a little bit of gel (DevaCurl AnGel), and go.
I can't tell you what a difference it is. It's like a new lease on life!

I am also latina and have naturally curly hair. When I get out of the shower I spray on some leave in treatment by Infusium and then a little bit of treseme gel (like the size of a nickel) and it keeps the frizz away and it stays curly all day but it's not hard. I think the leave in treatment works great, and the gel just helps it.

I use Pantene shampoo, conditioner and mousse for curly hair. My hair is soft and tame. Works great. Nothing else works as good. The mousse works wonders. Let me know if you try it and are happy with the results. I dry my hair partially with my head hanging down with the blow dryer on low. I never brush, comb or pick my hair. Only use my fingers.

use mousse.. there are some great products out there meant for curly hair. Samy makes some, and they are fairly cheap. just go to your local walmart or other grocery store and look in the hair product aisle. herbal essences also makes some new mousse's and sprays.. they are great... also.. use a lightweight hairspray on your hair as well. you could always use thermasilk mousse. however, with that, your hair will still be kinda "crunchy" but much less than with a gel. good luck!

ISO Tamer Foam. It's a mousse you put in your hair when wet. As your hair dries you can run your fingers through it and it WILL NOT frizz, and you will have soft curls in your hair. A hair salon I used to work in used this product quite frequently on curly hair and it seriously works. Go to your local salon and ask if they have it. If not try a beauty product distribution store, they should have it.

frizz ease on very wet hair, then add some mousse (i like the new herbal esscences one for curly hair) scrunch with a towel and diffuse a little, then let air dry the rest of the way...when hair is dry, shake out hair a little

Use some brand of wrap gel. Its not really gel its like a combo of mousse and hairspray. I have hair like yours and it works perfectly.
