best dvd recorder which can play avi/divx files?

I have a Philips DVP720 SA. Its pretty cool, can also play xvids (unlike most others) and SACD (never tried that though). Apparently you can also get a firmware hack to get it to play DVD-audio too (though I cant say Ive ever seen any of those discs in the shops). A better solution these days may be to get a wireless streamer that uses files from your computer's hard disk.

LG DR 7400 plays both and great picture quality
