Once Saved, Always Saved - That is correct. Our father’s love will never leave you and he will not break a promise to you. Do you stop loving your children because of poor behavior?
If you understand the real concept of being saved - you will understand this answer.

I'm not aware of any biblical passage that indicates 'once saved, always saved'. Sometimes ideas become popular that aren't based on any scripture. In Romans 6, Paul argues against the faulty concept that once you're Christian 'anything goes.' The idea has been around for a long time:

Romans 6:1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means!

Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!

According to the Bible, faith in Jesus necessary for salvation. As you can see from the following passages, it is possible to lose faith:

Matthew 24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other

Luke 22: 31 [Jesus speaking] "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you[a] as wheat. 32But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

Finally, to say one has faith, but to convert to another religion is foolishness. You are, by definition, without faith.

Well a week ago I was sleeping on some train tracks. I was in such a deep sleep that I didn't hear the train coming and I am so lucky that Superman stopped the train and saved me! Yesterday I went to sleep on the tracks again and I was run over, crushed into thousands of pieces. Now I'm dead. To answer your question, no, just because you are saved once doesn't mean you are always saved. (Not that an ancient dead guy, if he even existed at all, could save anyone in the first place!)

The idea of "Once saved, always saved" springs from the fact of God's grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. However, if we do a deeper study, we see several references to those who have of may lose their salvation.
Just a few examples are these:
Paul tells some in the Galatian churches that they have fallen from grace. So there, the once saved have lost their relationship with God.
Again in the book of Hebrews, the writer speaks of one who has had been a Christian and had fallen away.
Then Christ, in the book of Revelation tells us two things concerning this matter. One is that we are to live faithfully unto death. The other, that there are those whose names He will not blot out (erase from) the Book of Life. We have no other choice to accept the fact that He indicates in this statement that He can erase names from it.
There are other examples, but I see no point in being long winded.
God will keep all His promises. Let's be sure to keep ours. Our salvation depends on it. His grace is true, but is not a license to sin.
I hope this is helpful in your search for the truth.

I know what you mean. I was raised in the Christian church, was supposedly 'saved.' Now Jewish.

The thing is that Christians believe that if you're saved, you're going to Heaven regardless of what awful things you do. You could nuke a country, and still go to Heaven. If you bring this to their attention, they will say, "Well, that person was likely not truly saved." What a terrible defense for something that doesn't make much sense!

The main problem is that they believe in a salvation which consists of nothing more than a "belief in Jesus" and no responsibility from there on. Believe in Jesus and Get a Free Ride.

I personally do not believe that once you're saved you are always saved. I have heard many arguments and debates on the topic most of my life living in the south in the Bible belt. For me personally I would rather be safe than sorry. If "they" are correct, I've got it made, I've confessed my sins, believe that Jesus is the Christ and that He died for my salvation. If I'm correct then it's a daily walk and God is the ultimate judge, there are going to be a lot of shocked people.

I don't agree with once saved always saved. Yes, you are saved for eternity, if you seek a relationship with Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, but there are way too many scriptures that refute once saved always saved.

The person who holds firmly to the word (I Corinthians 15:1-3)

But the scripture that puts it into context for me more than any other is this one: Matthew 25. It has 3 parables by Jesus, including the one that always got to me, the story of the sheep and the Goats. Which talks about how a person maintains salvation

Does this mean that salvation is about works. Not at all...it's about seeking a relationship with Jesus Christ and then maintaining that relationship. Not what you do or don't do, but by daily walking with God and asking him what he wants for your life. In other words, you put him in control of your daily walk and you do things not to gain salvation. But you do them out of obedience to God.

Also, Matthew 18 states a good case that you have to maintain a relationship with God.

well..it's more than just logically trying to play w/ the idea of "once saved, always saved."

the thing is..if you TRULY accept and believe that Jesus saved you, you would not convert to another religion, or become athiest. because that is not conducive to accepting Jesus is ur savior! therefore, all things constant, if you believe, accept and are truly aware of Jesus' sacrifice and what it means to this world, i think you can ONLY be grateful. there's no other way you can feel, if u truly believe and accept his sacrifice for Your mistakes.

the way i see it, is if u really accept, in ur heart and mind, that Jesus died for your sins, you are forgiven of all past, present and future sins. the problem is not the fact that we sin; we are all human beings, and not perfect. however, the problem is, do we choose to do the "right" thing? and i mean, right as in good for you, ur family, ur friends, etc.. positive, healthy, and "good" choices, instead of temporary satisfaction, or doing drugs and getting high but negatively impacting ur body or yourself. and u don't choose the right path because u want to "look good" in front of others, or earn ur way to heaven. if u truly accept Jesus, you ALREADY ARE going to be in heaven. since that is a given, u don't need to worry about "being good" to impress someone. being under God's Grace and enjoying it, means u will choose to do what is good and right because you CAN, not because you should. u choose to follow God's rules because you love it, not cuz u have to. if u feel u "have" to, eventually u will fall, because no one is perfect and no one can live to those expectations. Jesus took away those expecatations of having to be punished for ur mistakes. he made it so you can rejoice daily, and start over, anew, fresh, and pure, each day, regardless of the past. that's why u can continue to choose the right path, even after doing something bad, or negative.

and if u Do end up converting to another religion, well i say more power to you. continue to strive and learn what you feel is right and best for your life, do not judge others, do not force others to think the way u do. always seek what is positive and good, and u will know what u feel is right. you have that choice. do not confuse religion with prison.. it is a choice, and it is a joyful one.

Once you take and accept Jesus as Lord and savior of you life you are and will be saved. There is no other way into heaven but through Jesus and He tells this much in the Holy Bible in the book of John chapter 14 verse 6.... " Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me."

Once you feel the love of Jesus and his saving grace trust me you wont want to convert to any other religion or become an athiest ...because one taste of that everlasting love, mercy, and grace and you will want more of it and will strive to live a life pleasing and accepting to God. There is nothing like the peace that surrounds you when Jesus enters you and your life. Oh, there will still be tough times but Jesus never promised that life would be easy ...what he did promise was to weather the storms of life with us and bring us through.

Once saved always saved.......Yes my friend as long as you take Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are always saved.

The work of salvation is a work from God not man . If you were the one doing it then yes you would be right . since God does it you would be wrong. And it sounds like you are not even very close to be a good judge on the matter
