Because the bible was not written by god, the bible was written by men, then it was re-written, again and again that's why we have so many different versions of the Bible.

#1 There is too much in the Bible that doesn't sound like the word of any God to me.
#2 I try not to be a bad person, so I won't have anything to worry about.
#3 Everyone instinctually knows there are good actions and bad actions - ones that aid in survival of yourself and the species and ones that don't meet one of those criteria. If you do do something wrong, you hope that others will forgive you for it and that you can do other good actions to help ease any pain you have caused. They don't call it sin because a sin is something some God somewhere dictated.

Some people actually are good people because they know they should be, rather than because someone had to tell them to be.

I don't accept the Bible as the word of God because I have no reson to think that this is so. Let's say that "God wrote this" was written on a paper. Would you believe that God really wrote it? Of course not.

1. I feel that sins don't go away, but are instead counteracted by good actions. For example, stealing a piece of gum may be offset by donating to charity. (I can't assign an exact dollar equivalency to the action.)

2. & 3. There is a difference between a sin and doing what God says. I think murder is bad, but I just don't include God in my reasoning. However, the biggest factor in getting people to behave is reward and punishment. In general, people only behave in a certain way when they are offered a reward for being good (heaven, gifts, praise) and punishments for misbehavior (hell, jail, being yelled at).

I don't really care too much about sin. Yes there are people that aren't concerned about sin, such as myself. Oh sure, I believe there's sin as in what Christians say you can't do and how everyone's a horrible sinner from birth, but the concept of sin doesn't rule my life. I just treat people as I'd want to be treated and obey the laws of my country. Oh yes and I don't trust the bible because it's an old flawed book with some bad advice.

The bible was written by men..... then translated by men........ and truth is known that when the bible was translated and rewritten into english, the words they didn't know or couldn't understand were filled in with what they thought was being said....... I beleive the bible is a romantic love story......... all except for revelations... it is scary to how true that is actually coming about to play a part in todays times........... But I also beleive that if enough people believe in something soooooo strong is going to happen and is the way, then they have made it so, and has made it happen through their belief. I know that is real.......... I don't believe in sin because today is not 2000 years ago and times have changed dramatically and I think that those that are of hate and hate crimes will have and will get theres coming to them.......... but I think the world is in for a big surprise anyway.......... everyone believes differently and each religion believes that they are right......... We are all going to be surprised and I don't beleive that one religion is RIGHT over any other.

#3. is probably the most accurate assumption. Most people don't know, don't care, and don't even think about it. These people go on with life under the concept that we should just live and let live without forcing our opinions, ideas, or preferences on others. Some people like to go hiking while others like to read the bible and go to church. To each his own.

Now as far as trusting the bible as being God's word- Because there are so many translations and so many intereptations as well as distortions of what is in the bible, it tends to bring a degree of confusion and doubt. The same way that every scam artist claims to be legitimate, appears to have the same prinicple when it comes to the bible. Throughout time people have used the bible to justify everything from murder to invading and colonizing estabilished societies.

It is very difficult to consider the bible as "the truth" when there are so many inaccuracies shared and so many distortions taught from it.

The Bible says it was written by man. It's right there in the front of my Bible: Zondervan, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

So, if it was written by men in Michigan, how can I pretend it's God's word?

As far as #2 and #3, it depends on what you believe. Those of moral fiber don't need to worry about sin or wrong actions. They act as best as they can. If they falter, they seek forgiveness from those that matter.

And if you subscribe to the popular sect of Christianity, you're going to be forgiven for all sins and allowed into Heaven anyway, because God loves us all.

Cleaning? Washing away? Where talking about actions and decisions that are wrong or bad for others. Behavior modification is quite obtainable without needing to be forgiven by a higher power. You need to trust in yourself to make the right decision and it is truly a matter of right and wrong, nothing else.

i will not say that i do not partly believe in it but it was written by man and whether or not that man was a disciple of god or not he still can make mistakes and put something in there that was not actually said. as far as the whole sin thing goes i would not worry about my soul if i were you. i will either "see the light" as you would probably say or i will be damned. i believe that there is sin and that there is evil in the world, but notice that evil is live spelled backward so there for evil must be apart of life. if you want to pray for me be my guest i will not stop you but please don't ask me to believe in something that i don't believe in.

I don't think it is gods work, because there is no god. And other reasons, like the many contradictions that Christians refuse to see. I live up to what I do, and take responsibility for it. I don't say, "oh god forgives me, guess it is OK that I did that". Talk about no morals.
