Hi I once won a contest with this really simple recipe. Try it. Its got indian ingredients and i dont know their english equivalents. Run a google if u want to try this recipe.

Maida+salt+soda bicarb+baking powder+water=dough. Make the dough thick. Something you can roll out. Cover with a wet cloth and leave for about an hour.

In the meanwhile : deseed the dates. In a pan add some salted butter . Once the butter melts add the dates. Cook on a low flame till partly soft. Take one egg and beat it up well and add thru a strainer. Crush up some biscuits like Marie and add. Mix well. Tke off the heat and let it cool partly. Now add some dessictaed grated coconut. And let it cool completely.
Make small portions of the dough. Take one small lime sized ball and roll out like a pancake (round) and not very thin or very thick. Cut it into half. Place a portion of the date filling in it and fold to form a triangle. Press sides together with a little water or egg. Fry till deep brown and crisp.
Yummy date samosas are ready. Serve hot with some tangy chutney for a totally new experience.

Every Christmas we had stuffed dates. Stuff a date with a whole pecan and then roll in powdered sugar.
