go to www.usembassy.state.gov this will put you in touch with the US embassy near you. Also search for immigration laws. You'll need to fill out an application (usually student or work visa if you're not marrying). You'll pay a fee (varies). You'll need to be interviewed. You'll have to provide alot of info and can get turned down for many reasons. You can do it without a lawyer, but if you have any issues (ie criminal record), you'll actually need one. You can go to amazon.com and look up NOLO books on immigration. (www.nolo.com--- website for legal what not in plain english). The books are nice, coz they are up to date with alot of info. Even if accepted, you may wait awhile to be allowed in. Then you'll live here on a conditional card for a time until you can apply for permanent residence.

Marry someone born in america, if you want. or go through Immigrations, which is a very long process, and you might not be accepted, but if youre young, they might take you.

Go there, and download the applicatoins, and mail them back to the united states.

If you're fleeing your country because of a legal reason, which you are a victim, You might have a higher chance, there are special policies conserning that...

Also, once you get here, if you are low-income, apply for housing, and assistance, until you get on your feet.

Get some poor Joe that wants a wife to marry you and get one that way, but it's not easy.

I married an English man and he had to go through the process and it was hard and painful and he wasn't looking for a green card.

Be very careful because you might live better in Italy> I made this step 5 years ago and even if Canada is a great country, Italy especially your area is great as well.

You could try the green card lottery. For more information go to the link below to see if you qualify. It depends on the country you come from.
