because religion diides people. religion DOES bring people together but usually those people being brought ogether are people of the same religion. take a step back and youll see that religio nseparates people into groups. those groups all have books that tell them that theyre special and others who dont beleive like they do are not special and should be treated poorly.

I think its because people can become addicted to religion like a drug and it consumes them and their views. Thus providing the belief that its either their way or no way. Also, if you think about if you control using one thing i.e religion in a moderate fashion then it shouldn't warp your thinking. I know some people think me comparing religion to drugs is blasphemy but let me explain. I feel that religion is a great thing and should be used as a guide to lead a good, helpful and rich, full life. However, I do not believe it was meant to take over your life. Just a thought.

Ok I was raised by a christian mom and a muslim dad and people complain that I don't align myself with any religion but through reasearch I see that so many bad things come from organized religion espically them using to justify things that I don't find right.
Like with the current thing with muslim terrorist they truely belivie it's the will of god that they punish americans, etc etc. But it's not like this is the first time this has happend with relgion.
They used it to justify the proscutition and murder of jews.
They used it to justify the murder of native americans.
They used it to justify discrimnating against black ands slavery.
They used it to not allow other races into preisthood.
They use it now to judge other people even in todays time like homosexuals.
I see a pattern. Do I have any right in this at all? The only reason people changed some of these because of changingn times, so how could it change unless recent relavations. it doesn't make since to me, anyone?

Religion teaches us nothing. The Bible is not based on one religion. In fact the word religion can not be found in the old testament King James version of the Bible, and Jesus never spoke of religion in the new testament

Religions do not teach us to love each other. Haven't you heard about the Inquisition, the Invasion of America by Europe, the Crusades...?

Because not ALL religion teaches to love. Religion is mostly man's attempt to make a God in his own image to worship on his own terms. God does want us to love each other, which is the principal reason why Jesus came. But we have taken God and molded an image of our own to please ourselves. And people are more prone to violence in the natural state. We must learn to love. Just watch small children - they are selfish and greedy and sometimes violent. They learn love.

Because man, like all other of Earth's animal species, is capable of attacking / killing their own. And like the animal species, man often gets blinded by rages that can be deadly and very costly, as many of our history's wars have shown us.
To understand our future, we must study the past---and pray our generations to come don't repeat our mistakes.

Religion has never killed anyone. It is bigoted people who are intolerant of other people's beliefs that kill. Clearly your intolerance of religion is making you act like a bigot here posting this ignorant and inflammatory question. Why is it that atheist feel that their belief system is any less dangerous when welded by someone like you then any other belief system?

much like the gangsters (a la the godfather) of the 30's era, religions are all fighting for "control" of areas in the world.
